Barrel (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Barrel[edit]
Cost | Armor Class (AC) | Strength | Stealth | Weight |
---|---|---|---|---|
22 gp | 15 | Str 15 | Disadvantage | 90 lb. |
A barrel suit, is dressed thanks to braces that are placed on the shoulders, while the barrel cover must be tied to the head with a rope, the arms are taken out through holes in the barrel, leaving a very light protection on shoulders. It mainly protects the upper torso and upper part of the head, although it also protects the shoulders and lower torso a little; sometimes they include protection for the elbows and/or knees, in the form of small pieces of wood that are accommodated thanks to fabric headbands attached to them.
You can retract your arms and legs into the barrel and than close the slit hole as well as the arm openings. As long as you don't move, you are indistinguishable from any other barrel. If, for whatever reason, a creature decides to inspect the barrel, a successful Intelligence (Investigation) check with a DC of 15 allows it to see through this disguise. It's not recommended to attempt this where it's highly unlikely a barrel could be, though it's not impossible to find an idiot who won't notice a barrel that's seriously out of place.
You have disadvantage on ranged attack rolls as well as Wisdom (Perception) checks based on sight while wearing this unwieldy contraption. If you do not have proficiency in heavy armor, your speed reduces to 0 while wearing this armor and you can not benefit from increases to your speed.
Be imaginative, there are many possibilities to do with this armor.
