Bahamut’s Bullet Bag (5e Equipment)
Wondrous Item, artifact (Requires attunement)
Despite its name, the dragon god Bahamut had no hand or approval in the creation of this artifact. In fact, it was created by the black dracolich archmage Daurgothoth specifically to shoot the platinum dragon’s followers out of the sky. The Creeping Doom crafted this platinum-plaited pentagonal prism pouch after his first encounter with a would-be dragonslayer wielding a firearm. While she and her party were easily dispatched, Daurgothoth did take an interest in the exotic weapon and its ammunition. Seeing some potential to employ against his metallic counterparts, he gathered both information and materials, including a platinum dragon scale not shed by Bahamut, via his agents to create this ammo bag, naming it after his own deity’s archrival for both ironic and alliterative purposes
If examined with detect magic, the pouch has a powerful aura of Transmutation magic.
Random Properties. The Bahamut’s Bullet Bag has the following random properties:
- 3 minor beneficial properties
- 1 major beneficial property
- 1 major detrimental property
Ammo Dump . This pouch can hold an unlimited number of bullets, but no other items. Whenever a nonmagical bullet is removed from the pouch, roll a d6. The bullet becomes a [Dragon Strike Bullet] with its material and damage type determined by the roll in the Draconic Ammunition Damage Table for 1 minute.
Elemental Ballista. Dragon Ballista. The pouch has 5 charges. You can use an action to expend charge(s) and cast elemental weapon without a spell slot or spell components. When cast this way, you can cast the spell on magical firearms and you expend 1 charge to cast elemental weapon as a 3rd-level spell, 2 charges to cast it as a 6th-level spell, or 3 charges to cast it as a 9th-level spell. The pouch regains all charges at dawn. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for this spell. You can also use an action to expend a charge and add 1d6 nonmagical bullets to the pouch.
Scale Sack. You have half cover, resistance to acid, cold, fire, lightning, and poison damage, and if you are subjected to an effect that allows it to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail.
Destroying the Bahamut’s Bullet Bag. This pouch is destroyed if the creature it is attuned to takes acid, cold, fire, lightning, and poison damage in a single turn. Unless 10 or less bullets are in the pouch, when the pouch is destroyed all the bullets in the bag explode out of its remains, dealing 1d6 piercing damage to all creatures within 10 feet of it for each bullet stored inside it.
