Astorian Arms (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Weapon (any weapon), very rare (requires attunement by a class that draws power from a higher power, such as the Cleric) A scattered and eclectic collection of arms, some times a single weapon, sometimes two, and most commonly a weapon and shield, they were created by a follower of Astor who found that many followers of different gods had no artifacts of their own religion to call upon, and in the spirit of fairness (and more then a little curiosity and envy) he took up the task of forging holy (and sometimes unholy) weaponry that could be used by any who called upon the powers of a higher being. Many were created before his untimely demise at the end of a weapon of his own creation, and they have proven difficult to destroy, but more then one has found its fate to be destroyed in valiant last and often single handed martyrdom. But still others have become even mightier then the smith would have dared dream, though this had unfortunately also lead to many of those gaining an affection for one divine sect or another. Once attuned the weapon's user becomes proficient with this magical item and the weapon's appearance shifts to reflect the nature of their worship. In addition, the items are considered to be magical and have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls or a +1 bonus to AC, whichever applies after attunement. Some of them are known to have special powers or additional enchantments, such as the tower shield known as the shield of Saint Cuthburt, which gained a power the titular Saint jokingly referred to as “My faith protects me, the shield really helps.” As an action, the weapon may be slammed into the ground, realizing a blast of holy energy, blowing all projectiles within 30 feet of you out of the air, pushing all enemies within thirty feet back ten feet, dealing 2d10 radiant damage to all undead and evil aligned enemies, and knocking all Large or smaller creatures within 30 feet prone on a failed DC 15 Strength saving throw. This weapon regains use of this effect at dawn. |
