Appoplexian (5e Race)
From D&D Wiki
Appoplexian[edit]
Physical Description[edit]
By The artist THOR |
Appoplexians resemble an orange and white bipedal tiger. Not all are the same; every appoplexian's coat is different. They have a retractable claw coming out of each wrist and no tail. They have a large musculature and height along with green eyes, characterized by their savagery and great strength.
History[edit]
The appoplexians are one of the races of big cats, but they stand out among the majority. Unlike their distant cousins, the appoplexians are a race from a different planet called Appoplexia. A group of these migrated to Earth looking for a new home. Being similar to the tabaxi, they went unnoticed, and since then, this group simply grew larger. The world allowed them to grow and have a home. After 1,000 years, the appoplexians prospered on Earth like any other race.
Society[edit]
The appoplexians are beings who believe that everything can be solved with blows; they are not known for being very intelligent. Their lack of intelligence may convince them to argue unnecessarily with inanimate objects, like a certain appoplexian who got into an argument with gravity just because he was in a big fall. Brute force is the way they solve their problems and differences, making them a conflictive race. However, reluctantly, they are willing to use bureaucracy, but in their own savage way. Appoplexians are afraid of water; being a kind of cat, so to speak, they can't stand it.
Appoplexian Traits[edit]
Let me tell you something...
Ability Score Increase. Strength score increases by 2 and your Constitution score increases by 1.
Age. Appoplexians have a great longevity, they can live up to 250 years.
Alignment. Because of their savage attitude, Appoplexians are chaotic.
Size. Appoplexians are usually around 8 or 9 feet tall and your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 35 feet.
Unmatched Physiology. The physiology of an appoplexian is surprising to say the least. Their bodies have been said to survive great falls and even laser blasts. When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can't use this feature again until you finish a long rest.
Strength of the Beast. Appoplexians have great strength and agility, allowing them to jump great distances and lifting heavy objects. You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag or lift, and your jump distance is doubled.
Retractable Claws. Appoplexians possess a large black retractable claw on each wrist. Your unarmed strikes deal slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of bludgeoning.
Predator. You are proficient in the Acrobatics and Athletics skill. You also have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks using your sense of smell or hearing. However, due to your heightened senses, when you take thunder damage, you are stunned until the end of your next turn.
Wild. Due to their attitude and sheer stupidity, the appoplexians take fear as nothing. You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened.
Pure muscle but no brains. You have disadvantage on Intelligence saving throws and ability checks using Intelligence. You also have disadvantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks against creatures that are trying to conceal their intentions from you.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Robust. While unarmored, your armor class is equal to 12 + your Constitution modifier. You can still use a shield and gain this benefit.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
