Anahel the Wize[edit]

Anahel the Wize is a lesser deity in the Fortress Celestia setting, and patron of the Celestial Alps. A planar lord admired even by the evil deities for his wisdom, his guidance is sought by wizards, angels, and other planar lords.

Dogma[edit]

Seek to become wise in all matters. Comfort those in pain, but rebuke evil, even in the hearts of the good. Care for the downtrodden, those in need, those who suffer, those who seek wisdom, and the lost. Anahel is a nonjudgemental deity; any creature can worship, but those who would interfere with beings who genuinely seek wisdom peacefully cannot be tolerated.

Clergy and Temples[edit]

Temples to Anahel are found on all layers of Fortress Celestia; most are in the Celestial Alps or Golden Vales. They tend to be small and simple, often near libraries. Anahel's clergy wear white robes with an image of a mountain on the front.

Pantheon[edit]

Anahel was created for the Fortress Celestia setting, as the "Obi Wan" of the pantheon, but DM's are welcome to "borrow" this deity or any elements of this description for their own purposes.

Roleplaying Notes[edit]

Anahel appears in any number of forms, but most often is a small, frail, old, bald man with a long beard and long ears, of the same race as those who depict (or see) him. He sometimes speaks in riddles, or acts senile when he feels the person speaking to him has not earned his wisdom, but careful listeners will find wisdom even in this. Anahel has a strong sense of humor and enjoys the company of other powerful servants of good, the weak but courageous, and those most in need of wisdom.

Author's Notes[edit]

I always thought it would be fun to have an NPC who was one of those sages that sit on tops of mountains, but who turned out to be a deity in disguise. With Anahel, not only is he a deity, but so are some of those who seek his wisdom!
