Adventure Selections[edit]

The following is a list of potential adventures you can use to kickstart the party and form a basic plot to expand on. These are by no means a must-follow, but they are good guidelines that could help you figure out and build your own plots.

Plot Hooks[edit]

A Digimon Adventure wouldn't be a Digimon Adventure if there wasn't some mysterious force that called a select few to the Digital World, or if Digimon were threatening the very plane of existence they were on or other things of similar level. Roll 1d4 to determine the Plot Hook selected.

1. Mystery Origins[edit]

Your PCs all get the same message through one means or another: coordinates to the same location. After arriving at this location, the sky rips apart and opens up, an aurora forming before devices shoot down right in front of you. As your PCs try to wrap their hands around what's happening, the devices hover into the sky right in front of the PCs and glow. Shortly afterward, the devices shoot into the PCs hands before the PCs are sent flying through the aurora, sending them to the Digital World. Now in the Digital World, your PCs are searching for a way back home and at the same time, figuring out just who sent you the coordinates, as they must be behind this. Unbeknownst to the PCs, a Digital World War was brewing with several powerful Digimon leading factions, and you were thrown into the middle of it. This journey won't be easy and you'll come across several challenges on the path to discovering just who sent you the message, and most importantly, how to get home.

2. Chosen Heroes[edit]

Your PCs were all in their homes, doing one thing or another when they heard a cry for help. It kept getting louder and louder, leading them into an alleyway as they had all arrived within the same location. With no time to examine the alleyway or discuss why the others were there, each PC sees an Egg slowly disintegrating. Walking forward in pure curiosity and willingness to help, they each touch one of the eggs that is called to them specifically. As they did, a bright light ensued and each PC was alone in an empty white void. A voice spoke up, asking if they wanted to save the life forms within the Egg, and if they would, they would become the chosen ones to combat a great evil that has arisen within a different world. Upon each PC saying yes, a device appeared in their hands, and the Egg fully reformed, and they were each regrouped within the same white void. Afterward, they were sent to the Digital World with these eggs in tow, with their goal being to put an end to the evil within this world.

3. Memory Seeker[edit]

One day while your PCs were walking toward their destinations, they saw a bright blue beam of energy shoot into the sky--and then nothing. The entire world had gone black and the PCs fell unconscious. When they awoke, it was as if they were a blank slate. With almost no memories besides their names and the final moments before they were knocked unconscious, they had arrived in the Digital World. Within this Digital World are monsters, creatures of varying degrees of unfathomable power by normal standards, and dangers that lurk in the corner. One goal is certain: the PCs must find out a way to get their memories restored before it's too late.

4. Accidental Happenstance[edit]

One day while your PCs were each doing their own thing, they noticed a strange device that had seemingly fallen from the sky and directly in front of each of them. As they walked toward the devices, a global catastrophe began occurring and they grabbed the devices in a haze. Then, the very ground beneath their feet split apart and they were plummeting to their death. However, due to having grabbed the devices just before that, they were saved at the last moment and sent to the Digital World. Now their goal is to get home and figure out what happened that caused the ground to be split apart.

Digital World Creations[edit]

While there are countless interactions of the Digital World in one form or another, including those from the franchise, if you want to create a new Digital World here are some ideas. When deciding what the origins of your Digital World are, roll a 1d4.

1. D&D Turned Digital[edit]

D&D is a tabletop game that everyone has talked about, and you and your friends were tempted to play it. After much debate with one another, you finally decide to set up a game. As the DM begins explaining the story, you notice the world around you slowly begin to change. Thinking nothing of it at the moment, the DM goes on. However, as the DM finishes their explanation, each member of the party vanishes and reappears in a strange new world; a Digi-Egg in front of each of them.

2. Artifice's Playground[edit]

An Artificer one day opened the first portal into the Digital World and brought about a massive revolution. The Digital World is a new place, created and discovered so recently that it’s still in its infancy. It has reached a medieval-level setting. Many have been sucked into the digital world with no escape, and with people now aware, Digi-Egg's are miraculously appearing in front of humans that hatch shortly after the arrival of said human to the Digital World. Travel is rare, as even a single Digimon can wipe out a caravan. Many medieval weapons that were used to face dragons are still usable now, regardless of a Digimon’s ability to fly. The people here are stubborn, though some are completely depressed by the situation.

3. Guild Troubles[edit]

There has been a guild, one that is on the low named D.A.T.S., that has guarded the Digital World and stopped threats from escaping it. This guild can open portals to the Digital World at will, though there is a cooldown period between each opening. They have a base in the Digital World, which almost resembles the real-world version. There are a few kind and knowledgeable Digimon that work with the guild to educate them on Digimon threats or train them to prepare for the next one. There is a nice cohabitation between both parties in the Digital World guild hall. But outside of that guild hall is nothing but a vast wilderness that has yet to be explored deeply. Despite this, the guild does send exploration parties, seeking resources, new allies, and enemy bases. However, the most important question is whether or not this guild is a friend or foe to the party.

4. The Royal Olympians[edit]

As the Digital World entered its new stage, two main factions found themselves fighting against one another: The Royal Knights and the Olympus Twelve. While the Royal Knights are disjointed and typically don't fight together, this has caused for a drastic power shift between the two groups for Yggdrasil has for some reason gone dark. On the other side, the Olympus Twelve are still very much around and their leader is still intact under the rule of Ultimate Level Digimon. With each Digital World under the protection, war, or the target of the two groups, it's unclear just who is actually right or wrong. One thing is for certain; this war between two powerful groups with either result in the end or a new beginning...with the party at the epicenter.
