Adult Dragon (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Cost: 100 × CR gp/day (minimum) Very rarely, adult dragons will hire themselves out for riding as mounts. This is much less common and more unusual than hiring a young dragon, as adult dragons have more often than not settled down and don't have a need to dirty themselves by taking jobs for lowly humanoids. Unlike other mounts, you're not buying a dragon to own it, you're hiring its services like a mercenary. The above price assumes that the dragon will fly you around through a typically dangerous wilderness for 8 hours in a day (covering a distance of up to 64 miles) and defend itself if attacked; for double the price (200xCR gp/day) the dragon will fly quickly at a speed of 16 miles per hour (or 128 miles in a day) although as it's more tiring dragons will refuse to do this for extended durations. If a dragon is expected to fly through an area that's dangerous even for a dragon, or fight in a situation other than self defense (such as going on the offensive to attack an enemy or help out in a war) it will demand a varying amount of hazard pay on top of the base price. |
