Tank

The Tank is the only defense a party will need. They stand in the front and take the damage while the rest of the party attacks.

Becoming a Tank

A character, usually a Warrior but sometimes a Cleric or Druid, become Tanks when they feel the need to protect their party above all else. They can take the hits but don't always deal a large amount of damage.

Class Features

All of the following are class features of the Tank.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The Tank gains use of all armor and shields but no new weapons.

Damage Reduction At first level and again at third and fifth levels, the Tank gains damage reduction 1,2,and finally 3 versus any damage type.

Toughness: The Tank gets +3 to HP at each level, this stacks with any Constitution bonus.

Improved Shield Bash: At 2nd level when the Tank performs a shield bash, she may still apply the shield’s shield bonus to her AC.

Diehard: Starting at 4th level when a Tank is reduced to between –1 and –9 hit points, she automatically become stable. She don’t have to roll d% to see if she loses 1 hit point each round. When reduced to negative hit points, she may choose to act as if she were disabled, rather than dying. The Tank must make this decision as soon as she is reduced to negative hit points (even if it isn’t her turn). If she does not choose to act as if she were disabled, the Tank immediately fall unconscious. When using this feat, she can take either a single move or standard action each turn, but not both, and the Tank cannot take a full round action. She can take a move action without further injuring herself, but if she performs any standard action (or any other action deemed as strenuous, including some free actions, such as casting a quickened spell) the Tank takes 1 point of damage after completing the act. If she reaches –10 hit points, the Tank immediately dies.

Ex-Tanks

If a Tank refuses to be on the front line, she loses all of her feats that being a Tank gives. That includes the HP from the Toughness feats and the damage reduction. The Tank can gain back all of the perks simply by being at the front of the next 3 battles, gaining the feats back on the third round of the third fight.

Campaign Information

Playing a Tank

Combat: Forefront, shielding the rest of the party.

Advancement: Can do well with Paladin levels and Clerical magic will help keep her up and defending.

Resources: Plays well with others, no one minds a character who takes the hits for them.
