Luparathi (5e Race)
Luparathi[edit]
Luparathi are violent, dangerous animals. Who love being pet.
Physical Description[edit]
The luparathi are considerably large bestial wolflike creatures, apparent by their furred bodies and long snouts. While much larger than most humanoids, luparathi are known to often sit on their haunches and walk on all fours. Though they can stand up their hind legs with little difficulty, some just prefer being closer to the ground.

History[edit]
For years feral luparathi have been treated as vicious animals. They're hunted for fun by most races, and some are even captured and forced into being pit fighters. Others are made into pets. Though they may have easier lives, they're still treated like animals, needing special privileges to be allowed inside of certain buildings, and are often kept on leashes. Their time spent with other races consists of either killing them in fights or being belittled and coddled by them.
Feral luparathi can be captured at any age, whereas the ones who eventually become pets are taken while they're still pups. The older they are, the stronger they are. Which can be both better and worse for people looking to make them into pit fighters. High risk, higher reward.
Society[edit]
Feral luparathi that aren't taken as pups or captured at older ages are rather lonesome creatures. Their tribes are small and only come together during mating season. Afterward, they disperse. New litters of pups are cared for by their mother until they can start walking. At that point, they're left to fend for themselves. This has led to the death of many pups that aren't taken in to be turned into pets. As such, only the strongest or more intelligent of them survive. Most of the time, it tends to be the strongest.
Luparathi tend to hunt and live on their own. Some packs can form for short amounts of time during the harsher month, but most would rather die than get help.
Luparathi Names[edit]
Feral luparathi don't often have names unless they're pit fighters. Even then it can be pretty rare. However, all luparathi kept as pets do. There isn't much of a naming convention with those who are pets, as it depends purely on their owner. Gender-specific names are common though. Forewarning: Don't name your pet luparathi something like Rend or Tear. They won't understand if you're saying their name or giving them a command.
