Breakable Helm (6/Day). Each time the helmasaur takes at least 10 bludgeoning damage or 10 thunder damage, it loses one use of this trait. (Taking 8 bludgeoning damage two times would have no effect, but taking 28 bludgeoning damage at once would consume two uses.) Once this trait has 0 uses remaining, the helmasaur's AC is reduced to 16, and it loses its damage resistances.

Siege Monster. The helmasaur deals double damage to objects and structures.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The helmasaur king makes two claw attacks, one bite attack, and one tail attack. It can replace any number of these attacks with an equal number of fire bolt attacks.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 19 (3d8 + 6) piercing damage.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (3d6 + 6) slashing damage.

Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 25 (3d12 + 6) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 20 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Fire Bolt. Ranged Spell Attack: +8 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (3d10) fire damage.

REACTIONS

Slip Out. When it is grappled or restrained, the helmasaur can expend one use of its Breakable Helm trait as a reaction to automatically end these conditions on itself.

In a herd of helmasaurs, a king takes on the de facto leadership role. Usually the strongest and relatively eldest helmasaur in a herd undergoes a gradual metamorphosis into this form, in a somewhat similar manner to how a bee can transform into a queen bee in its hive. A herd will never tolerate more than one king within its ranks. In the rare instance two kings form at once, they will fight to the death until only one remains.

Fitting of its status, a helmasaur king is ferocious. Its underlings pay tribute with food they've hunted, and the king in turn demolishes any predator that would hope to threaten its herd of servants. Aside from its immensely greater size and strength, a king has a unique adaptation in a whip-like tail that ends in a morningstar-like tip. The force of this tail's strike can pulverize the armor and the bones of any would-be predator.
