Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Does not say what statblock is used for the zombie minion (one from one of the monster manuals?) or how commanding the zombie ties into action enconomy.

You can help D&D Wiki by better balancing the mechanics of this page. When the mechanics have been changed so that this template is no longer applicable please remove this template. If you do not understand balance please leave comments on this page's talk page before making any edits.

Create Undead

The corpse before you begins to stand up. Apparently the ritual worked, and you have a new servant.

Level: 3 Component Cost: 50 gp
Category: Creation Market Price: 25 gp
Time: 20 minutes Key Skill: Arcana
Duration: Permanent

You animate a corpse you have prepared into an undead creature. The result of your Arcana check determines the ability scores of your minion.

Arcana Result Check Strength Dexterity Wisdom Constitution Intelligence Charisma
5-10 10 4 6 9 1 2
11-15 14 6 8 10 1 3
16-20 16 7 9 11 1 4
21-25 18 8 10 13 1 5
26-30 20 9 11 15 1 6
31+ 24 11 13 17 2 7

Once the ritual is complete a Zombie Minion will be under your control. Outside of encounters it can be commanded to do simple tasks, but nothing beyond moving or breaking things. A common tactic is to use the minion as a pack mule, to keep the burdens on fellow party members light. There is no limit to the number of minions a single necromancer may command, but when you attempt to create another minion you incur a -5 penalty to you Arcana check. If your arcana check result is below 5 the ritual fails and the materials are used up, including the corpse.
