A colossal eel only found in ocean depths, a deep python (or "sea snake") can be dozens if not hundreds of feet long. Despite its immense size, its dark coloration is an almost a perfect match to the murky waters and dark stone in which it typically inhabits—making it difficult to notice even when it is in plain sight. Ambush Predator. A deep python uses its subdued coloration to its advantage when hunting. One often hides under mountains of sand or inside stone tunnels, only to dart out and crush prey in powerful bird-like beaks capable of tearing apart galleons. Their beaks and entire faces are as hard as steel, but their gills are remarkably fragile. These monsters are known to hunt in open waters where their gills are more exposed, but only do so when food is otherwise scarce. |
