Scabberant
Small monstrosity, unaligned Armor Class 13 (natural armor)
Senses blindsight 15 ft., passive Perception 10
Swarming Mites. A creature which touches the scabberant or is hit by its mite wave must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, taking 5 (2d4) piercing damage on a failed save or half as much on a success. Creatures remake this save at the start of each of their turns, continuing to take damage until they either accumulate 3 successful saves or take fire damage, either of which ends the effect on themselves. ACTIONSFacehug. The scabberant attempts to leap on to a target within 5 feet of it. The target makes a DC 11 Dexterity saving throw, becoming grappled (escape DC 12) on a failed save. Creatures grappled this way are restrained, and automatically take double damage by the scabberant's Swarming Mites at the start of their turn, without making a saving throw. Mite Wave. Each creature of the scabberant's choice within 30 feet that it can see must make a DC 11 Dexterity saving throw, becoming stunned until the end of their next turn on a failed save.

This flattened monster's scabrous, leathery mantle serves as a steady food source and breeding ground for thousands of massive, pea-sized mange mites, tunneling hungrily through its scarred hide and building up a tough crust of dried blood, pus and dead skin cells. Quite skittish, the monster will send these vicious parasites seething from its body at the slightest provocation, causing intense pain and severe tissue damage to would-be predators. When cornered, it may even attempt to wrap its sticky, sucker-like form around the attacker's face. |
