Big Octo (5e Creature)
Big Octo
Large beast, unaligned Armor Class 14 (natural armor)
Saving Throws Str +7, Wis +4 Amphibious. The big octo can breathe air and water. Brute. A melee weapon deals one extra die of its damage when the big octo hits with it (included in the attack). Charge. If the big octo moves at least 10 feet straight toward a target and then hits it with a slam attack on the same turn, the target takes an extra 9 (2d8) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be pushed up to 10 feet away and knocked prone. Weak Point. The big octo's damage resistance is ignored if the octo is unable to make reactions, or the attacker makes a called shot against the big octo's back side. A called shot normally imposes disadvantage on the attack roll. ACTIONSSlam. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 20 (3d10 + 4) bludgeoning damage. Swallow. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one Medium or smaller creature. Hit: 13 (3d8) acid damage. The target is grappled (escape DC 15) and swallowed. While swallowed, the target is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the octo, and it takes 13 (3d8) acid damage at the start of each of the big octo's turns. The big octo can have only one target swallowed at a time. If the octo dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse using 5 feet of movement, exiting prone. Spit Rock. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d10 + 1) bludgeoning damage.

Rarely, a normal octorok is able to grow to this immense size, and produces a natural snail-like shell it uses as armor. Unlike normal octoroks, a big octo does not often hunt by spitting rocks, but instead uses the sheer size and power of its body to tackle and crush prey. It is known to swallow fish, birds, and even people whole, digesting them while they yet live. A big octo is not to be confused with the much larger colossal octo. |
