Amphibious. The baba can breathe air and water.

Break Off. As a bonus action, the bio deku baba can gain a base walking speed of 20 ft. While it has this walking speed, it sinks to the bottom of any body of water it occupies. Performing this action reduces the baba's current hit points by half.

False Appearance. While the baba remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary plant.

ACTIONS

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d8 + 1) piercing damage plus 1 poison damage.

REACTIONS

Break Apart. When the baba takes damage, but not from a critical hit, it can use its break off bonus action. If its hit points would have been reduced to 0, using this reaction causes it to drop to 1 hit point instead.

An offshoot of the more common deku baba that has adapted to live in either saltwater or freshwater. It normally appears as a large lilypad, floating on the surface of a small body of water. When a creature would fall or walk across the surface of its lilypad, the baba would flip over and devour the creature in a carnivorous manner similar to more traditional deku babas.

Bio deku babas possess the unique ability to temporarily break off from their base, which in this case is their lilypad. Doing so is immensely painful and sacrifices much of the baba's natural resources, but enables it to walk around the sea floor and either directly attack prey or flee from predators. If it survives this separation, the baba can regrow its lilypad and return to its sedentary life style, albeit over the course of several days.
