Talk:Card Slinger (5e Class)[edit]

Please check out this talk page so I can understand your edits. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 23:54, 19 April 2018 (MDT)

Hi Rosewater, I'm a big fan of the card slinger class and I'm curious about the change you just made. Did you mean to remove all the AoE effects? No longer exploding in a line cone or radius? If so, do you have reasoning behind this decision? Thanks. Daedalus (talk) 00:57, 5 October 2018 (PST)

I did. There are two reasons for this choice one to improve game play and one to keep the class on this wiki.

The first is I found the AOE limiting. AOE is great to use blowing up your targets and all that until the rest of your party is in the mix. I found playing this class that the AOE stop myself from being able to attack with my cards in the middle of combat. If I was lucky I could get one card off at the beginning before the the front liners ran into the mix but unless I was willing hit my own party members most time I found myself unable to do much.

The other reason is the staff hates the AOE on here. This class keeps getting flagged for being unbalance. It got to a point where I got temp banned put on me because I kept removing the flag. So I choose to remove the AOE from the class to get the staff off my back. Rosewater 4:40, 10/5/2018 (EST)

Hi, so just a suggestion, it may be interesting to keep the AoE but not have it do damage, just have it apply the effect in that shape. Does that make sense? So only the target takes damage but everyone caught in the blast has to save against the effects like blindness and halved movement speed. Also you, just so you know you can automatically tag your posts with the timestamp by adding "~ ~ ~ ~" without the quotes or spaces. Daedalus (talk) 14:24, 3 November 2018 (MDT)

Creating Homebrew[edit]

I've noticed you keep wanting to increase the power of things or refuse to reduce power of pages that are too much already. Perhaps some guidelines will help you and your edits on the site, as well as others that are trying to build a positive reputation for this site. Both of these are great resources to check out, Class Do's and Don'ts (5e Guideline) and Understanding Bounded Accuracy (5e Guideline). Good luck. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 07:39, 1 May 2018 (MDT)

I thank you for the links but I don't see these classes as unbalance. I make these class as I want them. Don't get me wrong I take in each note and if I agree with the issue I change it. I do not understand how having a few extra attacks (that were based off a official class) unbalance a game. Could you explain it to me? No one tells me anything they just alter the work on Card Slingers after I make the changes. I made the class but at this moment have no creative control over it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rosewater (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.
Do you read the edit summaries or the discussion page? I've placed things there to help explain the edits I've been making. I don't think that you have no creative control over it, but this is a wiki and everything is subject to other users. I feel like I am in the same boat as you with this class. I saw it sat dormant 2 months, and the issues that kept getting brought up weren't being addressed. So I did an overhaul on it to help balance it. I would like to focus on that word too. You mention you create classes as you want them but it is very important to some users of the site that articles be playable for others at any table. I understand the fighter has extra attack 4 times, but just because a core feature exists doesn't mean it can be applied to any situation we want, e.g. full spellcasters don't get that feature.
I've worked really hard at trying to keep Card Slinger at a fun and balanced level. If you disagree with an edit or undo, there's a discussion page. Otherwise, at the very end of it all, if you are unhappy with people trying to balance your creation, you can place it on your userspace where it is yours to edit and others to leave alone. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 09:17, 1 May 2018 (MDT)

Those people who find it unbalance don't have to play it. I go to make a char and find all the changes I made gone. So now I had to explain to my DM how the class is not how it should be. Lucky my DM understood. This class is suppose to be about speed A card slinger throws cards a skilled card play can deal cards very quickly. Thematically having the card slinger able to speed up the speed he can pulls and throw cards makes more sense. Also each card has a different damage value so while you can pull four of the same card the odd are very low. I didn't realize I needed ask to edit my class. 4:38, 10/5/2018 (MDT)

You don't need to ask to edit a page (usually), but it's not really "your" class - it is long-standing policy that no user can claim sole ownership of a page. Please see Help:Attribution Policy and Help:Legal for more information on this. If you don't want other people editing "your" page, you can move it into your userspace, where other users are not allowed to edit, except for administrators to remove content that breaks the Help:Behavioral Policy. If you don't know how to do this, I or another user would be willing to help you. (Help:Editing#From Input Boxes might be a good place to learn about this) — Geodude Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎‎ . . 16:41, 15 October 2018 (MDT)
If this is done, please keep a copy at the original title, as BSFM apparently made an overhaul to the class that should not be deleted. You can also go to the history tab and find a permanent link to every revision made, so you could keep that link for personal use :) --GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 15:43, 17 October 2018 (MDT)

Iron Chef[edit]

Rosewater, I wish I can kiss you for posting a 5e Iron Chef class!!! --Redrum 18:44, 20 June 2018 (MDT)

Warning[edit]

This is an official warning for repeated removal of templates on the [Card Slinger] page. I tried discussing issues in the past with you, but now more users have agreed the page isn't balanced. Please discuss with the community or fix the issues on the page before removing the template. You can always move a page to your user space if you don't like the direction the wiki users are going with the article. BigShotFancyMan (talk) 12:28, 11 August 2018 (MDT)

After another removal of content from the Card Slinger page, and no collaboration to improve the article, you've been blocked. I hope that is long enough to consider working with other users on the site. Cheers! BigShotFancyMan (talk) 14:25, 11 August 2018 (MDT)

Just a heads up, nothing has changed and this edit still not conducive to D&D Wiki's goals. I've updated the stub to include an example. Hopefully that clears up the issues being mentioned in the stub. ~ BigShotFancyMan 06:58, 17 April 2019 (MDT)
