Welcome to D&D Wiki![edit]

Welcome!

Hello DraconicMan and welcome to D&D Wiki. I hope you have been enjoying D&D Wiki and I hope you have been finding the information here useful. Before you start contributing it is recommended that you make sure your user preferences match your preferences.

Questions

If you have any questions about a specific page please ask it on that page's talk page. If you have a D&D-related question please ask it on DnD Discussions. Everything relating to D&D Wiki's administration can be found here. If your question does not fit into one of the above possibilities or you need to contact another user please use their talk page.

Formatting

Syntax can be very difficult, and if you need help a good place to start is Help:Editing on Wikipedia (or even their Introduction page). This will explain basic wiki formatting and should provide quite a few useful links that explain more specific areas of wiki formatting. Help pages also provide help in areas that have been decided as requiring additional explanation.

Community

A strong and welcoming community exists on D&D Wiki, and I am sure you will find it rather nice. To enable the community to function policies are in effect. Most importantly follow Wikipedia's guidelines on civility and etiquette when discussing anything and do not delete content. Also, to ensure people know who posted what, please sign your name after a post with four tildes (~~~~) or by clicking on the signature icon (Signature icon.png). This will automatically produce your name and the date. I hope you come to enjoy D&D Wiki and the community and welcome again, you are now a D&D Wikian. --Green Dragon (talk) 04:47, 23 September 2014 (MDT)

Behavioural Warning[edit]

Hi, DraconicMan. I'm guessing you forget to log in a bunch, or something, as you seem to often make comments as an IP. As I believe you have had a 1-day ban, as said IP, for poor conduct, this is your final warning for breaking behavioural policy. I know you're frustrated, but this site does have content policy we stick by. If you break policy again, you will be banned, possibly permanently. Again, though I realise you are now using another site, I'd like to express only goodwill and a hope we can collaborate successfully in the future. Thank you. --SgtLion (talk) 10:26, 21 October 2017 (MDT)

{{Locked Page}}[edit]

Hi, I'm looking at the page Black Blooded (5e Class) and I notice that the manner in which you are using the {{Locked Page}} template is not quite how that template is meant to be used. The locked page template isn't really meant to be used by normal users like you and me; it's meant to be placed on pages by administrators after a page has been locked in accordance with Help:Page Protection. Please contact an administrator, most easily through the tavern chatroom or the discord server, if you wish for a page to be protected. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 14:41, 19 November 2017 (MST)

Geodude is correct in this matter. Pages can only be locked by admins, so by association that template can correctly be used only by an admin. But as Geodude says, I'd be more than happy to lock the page when it's finished :)
While I'm here, I must unfortunately ask you not to swear at other users (or at all), even in the edit summaries. Additionally, while I share your frustration with the sparseness of the maintenance templates, please do not remove them without discussing it on a talk page first. If you and Geodude cannot come to an agreement, feel free to ask another of our wonderful uses for assistance in resolving friendly disagreements. If someone says the terminology needs work, perhaps you could check the terms you use against the index in the PHB and DMG to make sure it's accurate :) Above all, don't be afraid to initiate constructive discussions if you need help.--GamerAim Chatmod.png (talk) 15:45, 19 November 2017 (MST)

I've asked for more details to be added to whatever the fuck he decides to change and tag and delete about stuff, but he refuses, the fuck is wrong with your shitty site?

There are SEVERAL people that are complaining about this guy adding tags without adding any discussion about it, it is fucking insane. How the fuck do you delete an account? I got my stuff off of this it is unusable due to this guy. Legit. He is just an asshole that ruins what you got. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by DraconicMan (talkcontribs) . I'm sorry you feel that way, but this is a wiki. You need to be prepared for other people editing the pages you create. At the bottom of every edit box, including the one I am currently typing this message into, there is a message that says "If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will, then do not submit it here." If you truly do not want anyone else to edit "your" page, you can move it into your userspace, where other users are not allowed to edit, except for administrators to remove content that breaks sitewide rules. If you do not know how to do this, I or another user would be willing to help you or do it for you. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 16:11, 19 November 2017 (MST)
Ok fine, I'll edit your pages which btw ARE COMPLETELY FUCKING UNBALANCED to something better.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by DraconicMan (talkcontribs) . Please sign your posts.
I've blocked you, for yet another time. As I now realise this is the third time, I will extend the ban to 3 days. Vandalizing other people's pages is not acceptable, and there's no need for hostility. You have the attention of both me, and GamerAim. We're both admins who are open to talk if you have specific issues you need resolving - So there's no need to cause a fuss. Know that we admins also look over deletion templates, before any article deletion happens, and if you're asking for better feedback on the talk page (as you say you are), it won't be deleted until proper rationale is presented (and if it is deleted, do tell me).
This is your last behavioural warning before your account and IP will be banned, please refrain from being hostile to other users. We're trying to be constructive, though I recognise the frustration of maintenance tags without full explanation. If you have any further problems with that happening, or any other issues, please feel free mention it on my (or another admin's) talk page. --SgtLion (talk) 16:37, 19 November 2017 (MST)

Watchout![edit]

Rainbow trout transparent.png Whack!

You've been slapped around a bit with a large trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know you did something silly.

"Nice meme", ConcealedLight (talk) says in a jestful manner. But really though, don't you have somewhere else you'd rather shitpost then on a RfA page? --ConcealedLight (talk) 16:13, 11 February 2018 (MST)

In fairness, sharing one's opinion on an appropriate page could hardly be called shitposting. --SgtLion (talk) 16:18, 11 February 2018 (MST)
I suppose when viewed from that angle yes. Then again requesting that the opinion of a problem user with several behavioral warnings to veto the opinion of the collective on a wiki is trout worth. In addition, insulting the site as a whole and parading another site is rather rude and also pretty trout worthy. --ConcealedLight (talk) 16:31, 11 February 2018 (MST)
I am far from the only person who has had an issue with this person. If he was not on the site I wouldn't be "parading" around other sites. He randomly deletes and put's unnecessary tags on people's content. I really like the site. I, like many others, just have an issue with him. I have no clue why you stick up for the guy.--DraconicMan (talk) 13:28, 13 February 2018 (MST)
It is true that I have made bad deletion proposals in the past. This does not, however, mean that I place deletion tags on pages "randomly." You're free to use whatever content you create in your home games, but on this wiki we have standards that content must adhere to (even if it sometimes takes a while for those standards to be enforced). If you have specific examples in mind where you believe I have added maintenance templates frivolously, please share them. — Geodude671 Chatmod.png (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 14:29, 13 February 2018 (MST)
