Some game effects will let you add bonus dice to specific d20 rolls. For example, a creature under the effect of the bless spell adds a d4 bonus die to all attack rolls and saves.
You roll the bonus die alongside the d20, and add the bonus die’s result to the total for the d20 roll.
This effect is sometimes called bonus damage when it applies to a damage roll, but the same rules apply. Bonus damage is always the same damage type as the damage roll. If bonus damage would be added to an effect that doesn’t deal damage, the effect still doesn’t deal any damage.
Bonus Dice Don't Stack. If you have multiple effects which grant bonus dice to the same roll, the dice don’t combine. You choose only one effect’s bonus dice to add to the roll.
