Saving Throws Str +6, Dex +6, Con +4 Blind Senses. The yitsan can't use its blindsight while deafened and unable to smell. Keen Hearing and Smell. The yitsan has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell. Magic Weapons. The yitsan's weapon attacks are magical. Shadow Stealth. While in dim light or darkness, the yitsan takes the Hide action. Sneak Attack (1/Turn). The yitsan deals an extra 14 (4d6) damage when it hits a target with a weapon attack and has advantage on the attack roll, or when the target is within 5 feet of an ally of the yitsan that isn't incapacitated and the yitsan doesn't have disadvantage on the attack roll. Tunneler. The yitsan can burrow through solid rock at half its burrow speed and leaves a 5-foot-diameter tunnel in its wake. Pounce. If the yitsan moves at least 20 feet straight toward a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 14 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the yitsan can make two claw attacks against it as a bonus action. ACTIONSMultiattack. The yitsan makes three attacks: two with its claws or wrap and one with its bite, tail, or wrap. Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage. Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (3d6 + 3) piercing damage. Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (2d12 + 3) slashing damage. Instead of dealing damage, the yitsan can grapple the target (escape DC 17). While grappling a creature, the yitsan can't make attacks with its tail. Wrap. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target that is grappled by the yitsan. Hit: 10 (3d4 + 3) slashing damage.

Yitsan are massive, monstrous humanoid monsters that stand at a minimum of ten feet tall with a tail nearly as long. They are extremely aggressive predators, putting their shockingly high intelligence to use evading and ambushing their humanoid prey, preferably in enclosed spaces. This intelligence reveals a number of the disturbing inner workings of its mind, suggesting that despite being able to wield weapons effectively, they prefer to tear their prey apart by hand. A yitsan is most dangerous on the ground, where it is able to make use of all four sets of claws. Treasure Bane. Following its first meal, and once a year after, a mature yitsan seeks out a horde of treasure within which it lays 1d4 eggs. These eggs take the form of flat, gold disks one inch in diameter, causing many foolish adventurers to mistake them for treasure themselves. Months after they are laid, these eggs hatch, releasing juvenile yitsan, which are easily mistaken for simple lizards save for their natural camouflage. The length of these lizards increases by three inches each week until they reach a foot in length, at which point these adolescent yitsan seek out a dark, secluded place to undergo their final metamorphosis: for two hours, the plump, foot-long lizard painfully twists into a fully grown yitsan, during which time it is paralyzed. After this transformation, a yitsan is ravenously hungry, setting aside its remarkable intelligence to accommodate its starvation. Mysterious Travelers. The origin of the yitsan is hotly debated. Traditional theory places them as an orcish bioweapon dating back to the Unhuman Wars. Recent analysis of their composition, however, shows them to be somewhat similar to the order illithidae, implying they may have come from the Far Realm as well, either as a part of their ecology or unwittingly transported between realms just as they are transported between crystal spheres. |
