Yanme’e[edit]

"Drones aren’t brave; they’re just incapable of feeling fear.”

Bungie

Physical Description[edit]

Drones_54.jpg
2 Yanme’e in a sewer.

The Yanme’e, though resembling such creatures, are not true insects. Their body is broken up into three portions, including a head, cephalothorax, thorax, pelvis and abdomen. Their legs are waxy and leaflike, with two pairs attached to their lower body. Their glossy carapace keeps them from standing completely upright, and when it is attempt, their lower legs stack on eachother. Their chitin takes shades of green, yellow, gold, copper, brown, and occasionally crimson depending on their age. Their wings are transparent, save for numerous veins spreading outward.

History[edit]

Due to their hive structure, the Yanme’e never advanced past basic machinery. They partook in a short war against the Covenant, quickly becoming a vassal race. Once in, the San’Shyuum and High Council became their ideological “Queens“, giving them perfect control of every Yanme’e. Despite their total, unquestioning induction into the Covenant, none partake in social or political norms, making them the perfect Covenant race to be used as disposable, effective soldiers.

Society[edit]

The Yanme’e are eusocial. They are ruled by a single, unquestionable reproductive female queen who is assisted by multiple reproductive, wingless males. After their induction into the Covenant, the San’Shyuum took the political roll of queens, though the biological queens still exist in order to propagate the species. Despite being a sentient race, due to their insect-like nature, any Yanme’e not exclusively dedicated to caring for the queen act as workers or soldiers who work at all times except to sleep and eat. A handful of “Unmutuals” have been known to exist. These Yanme’e are unable to work in conjunction with the hive and are exclusively capable of independent thought. They are treated as criminals by the Covenant and have been known to go on rampages, destroying hives, crushing eggs, and murdering their own kind, though this is not necessarily inevitable.

Yanme’e Names[edit]

Due to the fact that most races can not pronounce Yanme’e names, they tend to respond to syllabic recreations and descriptions of unique physical traits.
