Lost in the desert as a child, Yōgo-sha was on the brink of death when she found a large empty temple of Karura. She pledged the rest of her life to defending her temple if she would spare her life. She noticed a swirling ball of sand next to a pool of pure spring water. Suddenly a Opuntia Cactus suddenly grew forth bearing Karura's Cactus Fruit. Having her life saved, Yōgo-sha devoted her life to defending the temple, cultivating the cactus, all with the sands that gave her salvation.

After a few years, she grew stronger and spread knowledge about Karura increasing those whom pay homage to her.

Living Shield (Ex) Level1: Due to their low natural defenses, sandbenders have learned to give some of their attuned sand a limited sentience with the sole goal of protecting the sandbender. The sandbender permanently loses control of 1 cubic foot of sand meaning it can no longer be used for techniques (but still counts against the amount of attuned sand the sandbender may have) but in return the sandbender gains a permanent +2 to touch and normal AC and +1 to Reflex save. Any weapon or projectile used offensively against the sandbender may be completely blocked by the sand, which is impervious to such attacks. However, whenever the sandbender is subject to an attack that causes fire or lightning damage, or has the water subtype, keep in mind the vulnerabilities of the sandbender's attuned sand. Any damage not taken by the sandbender in such a case is instead taken by the living shield and may destroy it permanently. In this case the sandbender can designate any of its other attuned sand to replace the destroyed portion of living shield as a free action.
All Is One (Su): Each singular particle of attuned sand becomes an extension of the sandbender itself. As such, the sandbender may deliver its dry hands touch attack through its attuned sand using the sandbender's base attack bonus and expending a standard action. Any creature already grappled or covered in attuned sand may not dodge the attack. Also, the sandbender has threat in all areas adjacent to a cubic foot of its attuned sand.

Yōgo-sha has finally made the large temple of Karura a regular stop for travelers in the desert. It has also gained several resident followers and she has begun to teach others about being a Sandbender. However danger now beings to loom. Followers of Ehlonna begin to threaten the temple and the deserts that are under it's control. Also, thieves and bandits begin to target the temple for them gems within, as well as the travelers paying homage. But with her trusty Sand Elemental Divine Familiar Hogo-sha at her side, she knows she will be able to defend them.

Living Shield (Ex) Level 2: Due to their low natural defenses, sandbenders have learned to give some of their attuned sand a limited sentience with the sole goal of protecting the sandbender.

This may be taken additional times, each additional time using another cubic foot of sand and giving another +2 to touch and normal AC and +1 to Reflex save.

Hands of Drought (Su): The sandbender's Dry Hands now deals 1d10 damage when used as a touch attack instead of the normal 1d8. Also, the sandbender may create attuned sand in 30 seconds. This greater ability to absorb liquids grants the sandbender the ability to absorb up to 100 gallons of pure water a day (about 13.5 cubic feet) at a rate of 1 gallon a second. Any water absorbed in this way is turned to water vapor however it also refreshes the sandbender's thirst. Also, the sandbender may pull the moisture out of the air, giving him the same amount of water as a small glass for every minute. This is a free action and can be used as an alternate source of getting water.
