XP from Gold (5e Variant Rule)
From D&D Wiki
[edit]
XP can be earned by sacrificing gold coins or other items to the deity of your character, destroying it in the process. XP earned is according to the value of the coin or item. You must be of the same alignment and/or good relations with your deity.
This rule could also be made that the only way to get XP is from this mechanic. The XP normally earned by killing creatures should instead be earned through treasure of equal XP value.
