Physical Description[edit]

Wobbuffet is a tall, light blue creature with a soft body. Their eyes usually appear scrunched, and they have a jagged upper lip. Females have a red marking on the mouth that resembles lipstick, while the male does not. They have flat arms that are wider towards the tip and four stubby legs at the base of its body. There are two eyespots on its black tail.

For some reason, although very rare, some specimens are known to have pink bodies instead of the standard light blue.

History[edit]

Wobbuffet were first discovered residing in the dark caves of Johto, but their juvenile forms known as Wynaut were discovered in Hoenn. Wynauts are small, bipedal creatures covered in blue fur. Their head is spherical with ear-like, fingerless arms on either side and a bulbous growth on their forehead, and they have a wide mouth with a serrated upper jaw and a pink tongue. Their eyes appear closed, each curving upward to a point in the center. The fur on their body ends in a zigzag pattern, extending over their short legs. Wynaut's tail is long and completely black, ending in a round, flattened tip with a white, eye-like spot. The reason for this is possibly due to certain fragrances common in their Hoenn habitat, known as Lax Incense, that relax those who inhale it, though why this fragrance affects breeding is unclear. Because of this, finding a Wynaut in the wild is an occurrence so rare that people often believe they're simply seeing a mirage if they do.

Although Wobbuffets will tend to stay in caves and only go out at night for food, Wynauts seem ok with going out at any time of day to gather food, especially sweet fruit. Their favorite fruit seems to be Liechi Berries. Wobbuffet hate sunlight because it makes it difficult to hide its tail, which is it very protective of and will become uncharacteristically aggressive if it is disturbed. Wynauts, on the other hand, will use their tails to show how they feel, slapping it repeatedly on the ground if it is angry. What secrets these appendages hide is still unknown.

Society[edit]

Wynauts will typically travel in herds, and at night will squeeze against each other. This is to build endurance and toughens their spirits. Wobbuffet, on the other hand, tend to stay solitary. If two Wobbuffet meet, then they will attempt to outlast each other in a battle of endurance. Since these creatures refuse to strike the first blow in battle, they will compete in other ways. One of the most common ways they compete is trying to go the longest without any food.

While most Wobbuffet and Wynaut live in dark caves, some will reside either outside or in humanoid society. Some Wobbuffet will help tend to farms, while others, due to their psychic abilities, help in the scientific fields. Many others also find work assisting town guards due to their ability to stand at attention for long periods of time.
