Wigglytuff[edit]

This fur you see is of the highest grade!
—Wigglytuff, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon

Physical Description[edit]

Wigglytuff is a pokémon with a bean-shaped body, no visible neck or waist, and stubby arms and legs. There is a fluffy, curled tuft of fur on its head, which is partially where it derives its name. It has long, rabbit-like ears with black, velvety insides and slightly lighter color at the tips. Its large, blue eyes are covered in layer of tears that quickly washes away any debris. This gives its eyes an often watery look. Wigglytuff's entire body is covered in pink fur with a white belly. Their fine layer of fur is so soft that it is said those who touch it, including other wigglytuff, will not want to stop. It sheds seasonally, and people gather the fur to spin into yarn. Its body is soft and rubbery, allowing it to inflate by inhaling.

History[edit]

Wigglytuff is an enigmatic pokemon that, while cute, is also blessed with wisdom beyond what any may expect at face value. They were first encountered in the forests near the mysterious Mt. Moon in the Kanto region. They were such a rare sight and many believed they were just misshapen jigglypuff at first. However, it so appears that on nights of the full moon, when clefairies are out and unearthing stores of moonstone from within the mountain walls, jigglypuff in the nearby area come out to steal some. Upon exposure to the celestial rock, jigglypuff change rapidly into wigglytuff. It is believed that jigglypuff can normally absorb the moon's rays nightly, but this can be a very lengthy process to evolve. This wigglytuff then goes on to lead others. Usually, only one jigglypuff is so lucky to evolve in such events due to the scarcity of moonstone, as well as the secretive ways of the clefairy.

Wigglytuff were once considered myths alongside the pokemon blissey and clefable in the Kanto region. This was because the circumstances of their evolutions were hard to fulfill and left many wondering if their pre-evolved forms even could change. After they were solidified in existence, wigglytuff exploded in popularity as it was highly appealing as cute to collectors and their fur was to die for. To this day, there remain relatively few of them in the wild and few occur naturally still.

Society[edit]

Wigglytuff can be vindictive and wise rulers of groups. Not only have they been known to lead their own kid, but they have been shown to be able to rally other pokemon as well. They also display an elongated lifespan due to their exposure to the moonstones, which are said to have come from a meteor made of a chunk of the moon, thus imbued with its powers. In times where more than one wigglytuff exists in a group, the wigglytuff with the most luxurious tuft of hair is the leader. Outside the wild, they are a popular choice of pets, being soft as pillows and addictive to the touch. Some healers keep them around for their soft touch and soothing singing voices, which they have honed since they were jigglypuff. This voice of theirs can put people to sleep quickly.

Wigglytuff Names[edit]

Wigglytuff prefer names that are simple, as they expect to be addressed often. They are both whimsical and airy, yet curt and practical. They usually use some mix of names that fairies use, from Sylvan, mixed with some Common.
