Way of the Martyred Champion[edit]

The Way of Martyred Champion is one of the monastic traditions practiced within the Monastery of The Yellow Rose Organisation (as described in the "Sword Coast Adventure's Guide"), alongside with the Yellow Rose tradition. Effectively, surpassing and encompassing in mastery all other esoteric martial forms currently embraced by the Ascetic Order solemnly dedicated to the worship of the Merciful Protector Deity of Ilmater. Its proscribed higher learning teachings (rumored to be the stuff of legend) are closely guarded by the leading ranked docents and intended for the exclusive tutelage of very select deserving pupils graced with the mandatory prerequisites in quickness, fortitude and temperament aptitude.

Martyred champions are monks who follow the steps of Ilmater, willing to go in a path of martyrdom and suffering to gain the grace of Ilmater. These monks are often trained by the church of Ilmater, and attempt to emulate the example set by St. Sollars, the Twice Martyred, and are ready to offer their lives in a heroic sacrifice if needed be. These are powerful champions, who fight against evil and endure the suffering of the world so others don't need to.

At 3rd level, your body bear the scars and the resilience of the martyred god. You gain advantage on all your Constitution checks.

In addition, having 0 hit points doesn’t knock you unconscious. You still must make death saving throws, and you suffer the normal effects of taking damage while at 0 hit points.

Paladin's Fist

At 3rd level, you become a true paladin of Ilmater. When you gain this feature, and again at 5th, 9th, 13th and 17th levels, you can learn one spell from the paladin spell list. In addition, you gain immunity to the frightened condition.

Divine Grace

Starting at 6th level, you reach a state of connection with the grace of Ilmater. You gain a bonus equal to your Wisdom modifier (minimum of +1) to all your saving throws.

In addition, when you finish a long rest, you can ask a single question to your divinity. This works as the spell commune, but only reveals one answer.

Holy Suffering

Starting at 11th level, whenever you take damage from an attack or effect of a hostile creature, you are surrounded by a radiant glow, signalling Ilmater's favor. You add your martial arts die to all your damage rolls, ability checks and saving throws made until the end of your next turn.

In addition, whenever a creature within 5 feet of you take damage from an attack, you can use your reaction to take that damage in its place.

Consecrated Body

At 17th level, you gain resistance to slashing, piercing and bludgeoning damage from non-magical attacks.

In addition, you no longer needs to eat, drink or breath. You still suffer the hunger pangs and burning lungs when you don't eat, but pain doesn't indicate a need for those things.
