Way of the Koei[edit]
Monk Subclass
The Koei Style is a long lost martial art which has been majorly lost to history, with only two of its techniques being recovered.
- Rakshasa's Palm
At 3rd level, you have learned the primary technique of the Koei Style, the Rakshasa's Palm, a palm strike with a twisting impact. When you make an unarmed attack, you can spend 3 Ki points to make it a Rakshasa's Palm. When you attack with a Rakshasa's Palm, you give yourself advantage on that attack, that attack deals three of your Martial Arts Die in bludgeoning damage, and that attack is a critical on a 19-20 (18-20 at 11th level). However, if you were to miss that attack, all Rakshasa's Palm attacks after that one have disadvantage on the creature you attempted to use Rakshasa's Palm on, unless you were to use Blink before so. If the Rakshasa's Palm is a critical hit, the creature is knocked prone, has their movement halved until they heal, and they cannot use reactions until the start of their next turn. You can only use Rakshasa's Palm once per turn.
- Blink
Also, at 3rd level, you have learned the second and last surviving technique known as Blink. When you would take the Attack action, but before you would roll to attack, you can spend 2 Ki points to become invisible until you attack, become able to move up to your movement speed towards a creature, and gain advantage on the next attack you make. You can only use Blink once per round.
- Rakshasa's Sole
At 6th level, you have expanded the Rakshasa's Palm to be able to use it with the sole of the feet you stand proudly on. As an action, you can spend 4 Ki points to use Rakshasa's Sole. When using Rakshasa's Sole, you can move an additional amount equal to your movement, and if you were to end your movement within 10ft of a creature, you can choose to attack it. If you choose to attack, the attack will have advantage, a 10ft reach, it is a critical on a 18-20, and it deals four of your Martial Arts Die in bludgeoning damage. You can only use Rakshasa's Sole once per round.
- True Rakshasa's Palm
At 11th level, you have realized the true potential of the Rakshasa's Palm is all at the tip of your fingers. When you use Rakshasa's Palm, you can instead choose to make it a True Rakshasa's Palm. When you attack with a True Rakshasa's Palm, it has all of the benefits of Rakshasa's Palm, but now it deals 5 of your Martial Arts Die in piercing damage, it is a critical on a 17-20, and on a critical hit, it deal two more additional Martial Arts Die of force damage. You can only use True Rakshasa's Palm once per short or long rest.
- Fallen Demon
Through your fanatical dedication, you have learned a technique only a select few have learned. Once per long rest, when you are reduced to less than 1/4th of your health points, you can spend 10 Ki points to enter the Fallen Demon state. When in this state, you gain the following benefits for the next minute:
- You gain AC equal to your Perception modifier
- You are constantly under the effects of the Dodge action
- You gain a +3 to hit
- You gain 3 Ki points at each start of your turn
When Fallen Demon ends, you need to roll a CON save (DC= Amount of damage dealt / 15, rounded up). If you fail the save, roll three times on the long term madness table and take all results.
