Way of the Demon Slayer[edit]

Monk Subclass

You have joined the ancient organization known as the Demon Slaying Corps, an organization dedicated to the protection of humanity and elimination of demons. A Demon Slayer traditionally wields a Nichirin Blade, a special weapon that absorbs sunlight and allows for the permanent destruction of demons. Despite its name, the weapon is not always a blade and is usually a weapon that the Demon Slayer is comfortable with.

Nichirin Blade

At 3rd level, you gain possession of a nichirin blade, a longsword made out of a special ore that can absorb sunlight. You are proficient with your nichirin blade, and the sword is considered a monk weapon for you.

When you hit an undead or fiend using the nichirin blade, you ignore any damage resistance or immunity to slashing damage. If the target is vulnerable to radiant damage, the damage is considered radiant.

Also, at 11th level, you can attack with the Nichirin Blade when you use your Flurry of Blows, instead of using your unarmed strikes.

Sense Demons

Starting at 3rd level, you can feel the corrupted ki that signifies demonic presence nearby. You can use your action and expend 1 ki point to focus your awareness on the region around you. For 1 minute, you can sense whether fiends or undead are present within 1 mile of you. This feature doesn’t reveal the creatures’ location or number, but reveal the types present.

Alternatively, you can spend 1 ki point to cast detect evil and good without spending spell slots or components.

Breath Style

Also at 3rd level, you can use your breathing to control the elements. Choose one of the following elements: Water, Moon, Flame, Thunder, or Stone. You gain the ability to use your ki to cast certain elemental spells, depending on the chosen breath.

To cast a breath spell, you must spend a number of ki points depending on the level of the spell: 2 ki points (1st-level), 3 ki points (2nd-level), 5 ki points (3rd-level), 6 ki points (4th-level) or 7 ki points (5th level).

The spells given by your chosen element are shown at the end of the class description.

Concentrated Breathing

Your breathing technique improves your stamina. Starting at 6th level, you add your Wisdom modifier to your Constitution checks and saving throws.

In addition, whenever you use a Breathing Technique that requires an action, you can use your Flurry of Blows, Patient Defense or Step of the Wind as a bonus action, without spending additional ki.

Demon Slayer

At 11th level, your technique in slaying your foul enemies finally matches your title. You cause additional 1d8 radiant damage against fiends and undead when using your Nichirin Blade.

In addition, when you hit an undead or fiend using your Nichirin Blade with a CR equal to or lower than your Monk level (rounded down), you can force the creature to make a Constitution saving throw or be instantly killed on a failed save. On a successful save, the target is immune to this ability again for the next 24 hours.

Sun Breathing

At 17th level, you master the true power of the breathing technique, becoming able to channel the power of the sun. You gain access to the following spells: divine favor, daylight, sunbeam, holy weapon, and crusader's mantle. These are considered Breath Spells for you.

In addition, the ki cost of your Breath Spells becomes equal to the level of the spell.
