War Breakdancer[edit]
“ | ...you must be wary of Betty's iron claws. They are sharp, and they hurt... and beware his song... about big butts. He beats you up... while he plays it! | ” |

The beat of song guide's the blows of the War Breakdancer. Every motion is both an art form, and an engine of destruction.

Class Features[edit]
All of the following are class features of the War Breakdancer.
Background Music (Su): While not a caster, the limited spell ability of the war breakdancer manifests in his dance frenzies, as music plays in the background via a Ghost Sound effect. It has no mechanical effect other than to provide the war breakdancer a good beat to hit people with, and it lasts for as long as the dance frenzy.
Dance Frenzy (Ex): The fighting style of the war breakdancer seems more like dancing, spinning, swirling, half the top not even standing straight. Entering a Dance Frenzy is a free action which can only be done on the war breakdancer's turn, and it consumes a bardic music attempt. If you do not have either a dance frenzy or a bardic music attempt left, you cannot enter dance frenzy. You may enter a dance frenzy 1/day and 1 additional time every 3 levels after (4th, 7th, 10th, etc.) and it lasts for 3 + Con modifier rounds. You get increasing benefits when you enter a frenzy.
At 1st level, you gain +2 Dex and Con while dancing as the beat of the music empowers you. Your dance frenzy time increases with your improved Con score.
At 3rd level, you gain Tempo Flurry, effectively Flurry of Blows which can only be used with unarmed strikes or light weapons. During a full attack, you gain an extra attack at your highest BAB, but this attack and all other attacks take a -2 penalty until the end of your next turn. This ability stacks with Flurry of Blows, resulting in a -4 penalty for your attacks.
At 5th level, the bonuses from your frenzy increase to +4 Dex and Con.
At 7th level, the fluid motions of the war breakdancer allow her to deflect even magical beams away with her Ray Dance. As a free action she may expend a bardic music attempt to parry any ray spell, resulting it missing harmlessly. She may do this for as many bardic musics as she has left.
At 9th, the bonuses from your frenzy finally increase to +6 Dex and Con.
Dual Progression: War Breakdancer advances your monk and bard abilities as if you had leveled in either monk or bard for the Ascetic Artist feat.
Dancing Dodge (Ex): At 2nd level, and every 2 levels beyond, the war breakdancer receives a +1 dodge bonus to AC. The war breakdancer is flexible and ready to act at a moment's notice.
Kip Up (Ex): At 2nd level, a war breakdancer can stand from prone as a free action, without provoking attacks of opportunity.
Improved Evasion (Ex): At 5th level, the evasive skills of the war breakdancer allow her to dodge things completely. She still takes no damage on a successful Reflex saving throw against attacks, but henceforth she takes only half damage on a failed save. A helpless war breakdancer does not gain the benefit of improved evasion.
Agile Fighting (Ex): At 8th level, the war breakdancer can fight in any stance or position. She takes no penalty on AC or melee attacks for fighting prone, and can move up to her speed with a DC 20 tumble check, rolling while prone.
Music In The Soul: At 10th level, a war breakdancer becomes a magical creature. She is forevermore treated as an outsider rather than as a humanoid (or whatever the war breakdancer’s creature type was) for the purpose of spells and magical effects. Additionally, the war breakdancer gains damage reduction 10/magic, which allows her to ignore the first 10 points of damage from any attack made by a nonmagical weapon or by any natural attack made by a creature that doesn’t have similar damage reduction. Unlike other outsiders, the war breakdancer can still be brought back from the dead as if she were a member of her previous creature type.
Campaign Information[edit]
Playing a War Breakdancer[edit]
Combat: A War Breakdancer, like a monk, is a melee class. However, while she can flurry with the best of monks she also acts as support, inspiring her allies to battle with her dance.
Advancement: Any monk or bard prestige class works fun for a War Breakdancer, though additional monk or bard levels ensures both classes stay in top shape.
Resources: War Breakdancers don't have a specific organization, but sometimes war breakdancers band together for bouts of friendly dance competitions.
War Breakdancers in the World[edit]
“ | Everybody was Kung-Fu Fightin'! | ” |
—The song of an unknown War Breakdancer in Frenzy |
War Breakdancers are an odd lot, too strange and wild often for monks and oddly devoted to their art of battle to fit with bards.
NPC Reactions: The war breakdancer is nothing but a fancy, and oddly agile, bard. They rarely get to see the true, dangerous talent the war breakdancer possesses.
War Breakdancer Lore[edit]
Characters with ranks in Knowledge Local can research War Breakdancers to learn more about them. When a character makes a skill check, read or paraphrase the following, including information from lower DCs.
DC | Result |
---|---|
10 | A war breakdancer can bolster his allies morale with his dangerous dancing unarmed strikes. |
15 | So skilled with both war and dance, the war breakdancer can dance away from enemy blows and is hard to hit. |
20 | Powerful war breakdancers can even deflect ray attacks and dodge most magic. |
30 | Those who reach this level of success can gain information on specific war breakdancers, their whereabouts, activities, and music styles. |
War Breakdancers in the Game[edit]
War Breakdancers are both support and melee, able to change as the situation requires.
Sample Encounter: The arena has many warriors, but a strange fighter with an even stranger combat style has managed to take the title in every match. Who can hit this charismatic foe?
