More information...

Venalis was a human mage who traded his soul to a demon in return for magic power. As his power increased he began to dread the day when he would have to pay the price that his demon mentor demanded. Desperately he sought knowledge that would allow him to subvert his contract and the road to that knowledge led him through the furthest corners of the lower planes and into contact with a rare type of demon, the Spellbook Imp. These creatures gave him access to rare and obscure knowledge. Fortified with this new knowledge, he finally confronted the demon with whom he had dealt and through the use of trickery he managed to not only steal the demons essence but transfer that essence into his own body. With this new power he took over the layer of the abyss on which the Spellbook Imps lived and used them to establish his own cult on the mortal planes. These followers, and the souls he's stolen, have allowed him to achieve the power of a lesser god.

Dogma[edit]

Power is here for the taking, listen to my followers and you will have your hearts desire.

Clergy and Temples[edit]

The clergy of Venalis is comprised primarily of the Spellbook Imps and spellcasters delving into dark magics. His worship is conducted in secret laboratories and hidden towers.

Appearance[edit]

Looking much like he did in life, Venalis could pass for human if it was not for the unsettling feeling of power that eminates from him. Old and wizened with long white hair, his eyes hold an inner fire that can be seen even in the depths of the deep cowl he wears with his robes. He is always accompanied by a half dozen Imps and Spellbook Imps.
