Vayne Solidor, the Undying (5e Creature)
From D&D Wiki
The Undying[edit]
Large monstrosity, lawful evil Armor Class 17 (natural armor)
Saving Throws Con +11, Wis +9 Avoidance. If the undying is subjected to an effect that allows it to make a saving throw to take only half damage, it instead takes no damage if it succeeds on the saving throw, and only half damage if it fails. Barrier (1/Day Each). As a bonus action, the undying surrounds itself with a protective barrier. It gains one of the following effects, which last until the end of its next turn: Death Throes. When the undying dies, it explodes, and each creature within 30 feet of it must make a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw, taking 35 (10d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The explosion ignites flammable objects in the area that aren’t being worn or carried, and it destroys the undying’s remains and equipment. Flyby. The undying doesn't provoke an opportunity attack when it flies out of an enemy's reach. Innate Spellcasting. The undying’s spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 19). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components: Legendary Resistance (3/day). If the undying fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead. Magic Resistance. The undying has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. Magic Weapons. The undying's weapon attacks are magical. Regeneration. The undying regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point. ACTIONSMultiattack. The undying makes two weapon attacks. Divine Sword. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 5) slashing damage. Divine Handgonne. Ranged Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, range 30 ft./90 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) piercing damage. Limit Break (Recharge 5-6). The undying makes one of the following attack options:
LEGENDARY ACTIONSThe undying can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The undying regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn. Attack. The undying makes a weapon attack. |
These statistics represent Vayne Solidor, gravely wounded after transforming into Vayne Novus but empowered further through supernatural means. An unwholesome blending of man and machine, mortal and divine, the Undying is a rabid beast that lashes out against everything in sight. Mechanized Monstrosity. The Undying is festooned with pieces of metal and machinery stripped from the hull of a great airship, welded into its flesh by searing arcane fire. It hovers above the ground via the constant beating of dozens of mechanical wings, no two of which look alike or flap in time. Its hands have become instruments of death, the right hand replaced by the jagged blade of a mighty sword, the left by the barrel of a handgonne that never needs to reload. Divine Infusion. The Undying owes its monstrous powers to more than manufacted nethicite. They stem from the essence of Venat, a mysterious entity which voluntarily fused with Vayne to prolong his life after he suffered a mortal wound. With such power at its disposal, the Undying can assail its foes with powerful magic and unleash withering storms of otherworldly energies. Such power does not come without cost. The eldritch power coursing through the Undying’s veins has stripped away its higher reason and ability to speak. Worse, it threatens to destroy the creature from within at any moment. Should the Undying die, its own uncontrolled power would obliterate it in a fiery explosion. |
