Vavana the Heartbreaker[edit]

Alignment. Chaotic Neutral
Domains. Love and War
Divine Rank. Greater Deity

Vavana is a great warrior, and a great beauty. Born from the second great battle between Order and Chaos, she is the living embodiment of their war, but also their love. Vavana is never interested in mediation, or halfway. She is the goddess of extremes. When she is honored and respected, she grants powerful blessings, and when she is disrespected, she never forgives, and brings down holy wrath upon those who have offended her. She respects strength, both physical and spiritual, and detests weakness. Those with her blessing must be strong in both body and spirit. Once, there was a stone giant who wished to make Vavana his bride. He had seen her in battle, cutting down dozens of his brethren easily. This stone giant was named Usag, and he was a great warrior among his people. However, the gods had determined that the stone giants were too powerful a race compared to the other mortal races, so they began cutting them down. Vavana was at the forefront of this effort. In one battle, the leader of the giants, Raric, was killed on her blade, and Usag stepped up to take his place. His battle prowess, fueled by his desire to make Vavana see him as an equal, allowed him to stand toe-to-toe against Vavana’s own son, Ruton, god of Bravery, in battle. While Ruton was only a minor god, this was still an impressive enough feat to earn the respect of all the gods and giants watching. Vavana saw him, witnessed both his physical strength and willpower, his ability to follow his heart, despite the impossibility of it all. Vavana stayed the hand of her son, and offered Usag a choice. If he surrendered now, he and his people would be spared. Or, he could continue to fight, and if he won, she would be his bride. Without hesitation, Usag chose to fight on, despite knowing he could not win. Usag and all of his people were killed, but when the killing was done, Vavana turned to her siblings. She wanted to resurrect Usag as a god, for following his heart, and having the willpower to fight for what he wanted. The other gods agreed, knowing it was best not to cross Vavana, and Usag was reborn as the god of strength and willpower, and Vavana’s husband and faithful commander. Many people dislike this story, as Usag sacrificed his entire people for selfish reasons, but it is a prime example of Vavana’s behavior. Love and War are all about sacrifice, and Usag sacrificed much to be with her.

Vavana is the goddess of love and war. She rarely goes outside of those two things, and leaves much of the details to her children. When Vavana goes into battle, she does so wielding her spear and shield. Her spear, Heartrender, is wrapped in the rose she was born holding, and forces whoever is cut by it to experience their worst heartbreak again. Her shield, True Reflection, shows whoever looks into it their worst failures.

Vavana usually appears as a beautiful woman wearing the armor of a centurion, wielding her spear and shield. Her actual appearance is typically blindingly beautiful, and she is capable of blinding mortals with her beauty if she is not careful.
