The vatirean are peoples who dwell in the frigid areas of the world. These conditions are suboptimal for many others, and so the vatireans rarely have visitors. They are commonly mistaken to be some kind of snow elf due to their appearance. While they do have some fey blood in them, it is from a creature known as the quickling, which is a rather monstrous creature of blinding speed. It is said the vatireans are descendants of a people who conducted experiments to steal the speed of quicklings and imbue it in themselves at the behest of some deity of the forbidden arts. This ended up changing their very bodies as a result and they fled persecution by secluding themselves in the frigid tundras. Despite their situation, they have never neglected in honing their skills, as that was what their ancestors wished for.
Play a Vatirean if you want...
- To be fast, stealthy, and agile.
- To be strong and intelligent.
- To be part of a race that lives in separation from the other races.
- To be a member of a race that favors the paladin, rogue and avenger classes.
Physical Qualities[edit]
The vatirean are humanoids with tall and slim builds, belying their musculature underneath. They have high cheekbones and very pointed ears, like that of a quickling. Their eyes are blank orbs, and their skin is pale like a dead man's, and cold to the touch. This gives them a slightly eerie visage. The feeling of unease is enhanced when one sees their teeth are somewhat jagged and unkept. Their bodies are designed to run in bursts, and very quickly at that. Their strength, coupled with an enigmatic intelligence, makes them a whirlwind of unpredictability in battle. They often have black, silver, or white hair, and live about the same lifespans as eladrin.
Playing a Vatirean[edit]
Vatireans have lived away from others for centuries due to the fear of persecution for the act which their ancestors committed. They are used to, and almost now prefer this loneliness. However, they are not ashamed of admitting it when discovered. To them, the deity who had given them access to these forbidden arts of stealing another creature's essence was doing a good deed for the world. After all, were quicklings not evil? Vatireans hold their faith steadfast and have honored the deity for generations. some hold the rest of the world at fault for their dismal habitat now, but most others saw this as an opportunity to further themselves in isolation. Despite the lack of external stimulus, the vatireans have sent scouts out in order to keep up with the world, and so they are surprisingly informed. They are also well trained in the art of combat, having not neglected training in the icy terrain. This, coupled with their speed, surprised a good many failed conquests onto their territory.
While very combative, the vatireans have codes that ensure they do not stray from the path of their god they believe to be good. Many who take up the mantle of the god's call to action are not allowed to just strike down those who despise them. Their blades are meant for the evil creatures like the redcaps. Vatireans, as one would be quick to notice, are mainly bent on eradicating evil fey. while they seem impassive, vatireans host a variety of negative emotions mostly, and these can fester until they explode and ruin a relationship beyond repair. Things like jealousy and irksome emotions can build up in them due to a stubborn refusal to admit they have things like feelings. They are honorable, but not quite so much as the dragonborn. They are okay with breaking their codes when in dire straits, sometimes to almost impulsive extents. This may entail punishment at times, but they see it as a worthwhile investment in stalwart allies.

Vatirean Adventurers[edit]
Three sample Vatirean adventurers are described below:
Kalvax is a vatirean rogue that was sent as a spy out to the world beyond the white horizon on a long term reconnaissance mission. while he was cold and unreceptive at first, his heart eventually melted as he experienced people who were welcoming and warm, unknowing of his nature. Eventually, he came to want a lover, one whom he could pour the truth to. He has no intention of returning to that cold society and now keeps a vigilant watch over his shoulder for other spies that may seek to eliminate him as a traitor.
Nymphora is a vatirean avenger who was chosen by the deity to murder harmful fey. She has used her powers many a time to drain the life force of enemies. Her skill being exceptional has earned her the ire and jealousy of many in her community. While an outsider cannot tell, vatireans are receptive of each other through small quirks, similar to microaggressions. Nymphora thus set out to expand her journey aborad, leaving home with a heavy heart. She seeks to find company with whom she may feel she truly belongs.
Daria is a vatirean paladin who hates the world. Her initial revulsion of others eventually evolved into hatred for even her entire race. People avoid her because the unease around her can quickly turn to fear with a single glare of disdain from her empty eyes. She is grateful that her deity instilled in her the power to steal the life of others. She intends to use this power to recover a stronger ancient art which will render the world devoid of life. Only then, perhaps, will her hatred and emptiness subside.
