The Will of the Inventor[edit]
Vashtorr The Arkifane is not a creation of one of the four main Chaos Gods, but a completely self-sustaining warp entity. Vashtorr is the god of Invention, Artistry, and Unending Progress. He is the creator of the dreaded Daemon Engines, half mechanical, half daemon monstrosities with a variety of unique and horrifying methods of slaughter. He holds the unique ability to manifest in the Material Planes without being summoned, but that has only occurred a handful of times. He is empowered by the desire to create and progress and does not care for what stands in its way; He will see his plans through, without hesitation or mercy. His goal now is to ascend to the likes of the Four Gods of Chaos, and become the fifth.
The Soul Forge King[edit]
Vashtorr resides within a region of the Warp called the Forge of Souls, a place painted black with smog and deafened with the agonizing cries of the souls used as fuel for the forge. Here he and his Daemons eternally create new terrifying warp contraptions, and Vashtorr offers them to those who will serve his will. The Chaos Gods do not attack the Soul Forge, as Vashtorr is an arms dealer to all sides, and to attack his forge is to both lose a powerful ally, and to gain a powerful enemy
A Mechanical Fallen Angel[edit]
Vashtorr is one of the few self-sustaining entities that can enter the Material Planes without needing a direct summoning. He is depicted at towering over even the tallest of races at nearly 20 feet tall. He is half mechanical and half pale flesh, with a hideous face oversampling a horned gas mask. He has a pair of mechanical wings that are tipped with scythe-like blades and a massive hammer known as The Hammer of the Soul Forges. It is said that he is constantly surrounded by a thick, black smog that chokes the life out of the surrounding area. Vashtorr can only create one type of Daemon, the Cakospark. They are simple little creatures that feed on code and act as informants and saboteurs instead of soldiers. That role goes to the Daemon Engines, hulking constructs of daemonic flesh and mechanical components.
The Arms Dealer to the Great Game[edit]
The Chaos Gods have a unique relationship with Vashtorr, as they do not attack him or his Soul Forge. This is because Vashtorr gives weapons and Daemon Engines to all four gods, in exchange for daemons to serve him, forbidden knowledge, or artifacts to turn into new and terrifying war machines. It is said that even Daemon Princes, some of the most powerful and well revered of the chaos gods' worshipers, will fight each other to the death even gain the chance to become a Soulgrinder, one of the most powerful Daemons types in the Immaterium. However, there is one that Vashtorr is hated by enough to be considered a rival to The Arkifane: Be'Lakor, The First Daemon Prince.
The Cult of the Arkifane[edit]
The Cult of the Arkifane is an overarching group of mortals, daemons, and sentient machines that seek to create and improve without restraint and unto oblivion. They are master craftsmen and expert in many fields of study, but are clouded by their desire to build and are reduced to techno maniacal mad scientists, not caring about what gets in their way and will easily slaughter entire villages just to mine the ores under their feet. Clerics who follow the Arkifane can access the Forge Domain and can, if only rarely, command and even build Daemon Engines of thier own
