Variant Rules (Cantalthis Supplement)
From D&D Wiki
Currency[edit]
The currency system of Cantalthis is different than that of standard D&D. The currency system is divided into common currency and royal currency. The common currency from smallest to largest is bronze pieces (BP), iron pieces (IP), silver pieces (SP), and gold pieces (GP). It should be noted that many small towns and cities often prefer to barter rather than use exact currency.
The royal currency system is mithril pieces (MP), and atium pieces (AP). These are called the royal currencies because of how rare they are. There is only one atium deposit on Cantalthis, at the Pits of Hathsin in Cett. Mithril can only be found at the base of the highest mountains in the world.
Sanity and Reputation[edit]
There are two new ability scores in this campaign, that being Sanity and Reputation. Every race that the player chooses will impact their starting Sanity and Reputation. Sanity is calculated just like every other ability score. Sanity checks are used when your character sees something horrifying or something that they can't explain. If you fail a sanity check, you enter a state of madness. Reputation is calculated differently, it is dependent on your alignment. Start with ten. If your alignment is lawful, add three. If it is neutral, add zero. If it is chaotic, subtract three. If it is good, add three. If neutral, add zero. If evil, subtract three.
A reputation of less than ten is quite detrimental when trying to reason with a good-natured person. It is useful when talking to tyrants, beggars, or others in the criminal underworld. The opposite applies to a reputation over ten.
