Valine Oil (5e Equipment)
From D&D Wiki
Cost: 5 gp/oz. The liquefied fat of long dead titans, extracted from the depths of the earth. This clear fluid has a slight tan tint and quite interesting physical and alchemical properties that make it incredibly valuable as a resource. Valine oil purified of any contaminants is completely clean burning, producing a bright white flame upon combustion. It has an energy density of 22,528 MJ/kg and is liquid at temperatures below 69° F, but begins to turn into vapor at temperatures above that. As a liquid it cannot be compressed and it does not freeze. Valine oil can be alchemically processed into a solid, the typical process congealing it into tiny wax-like logs that burn steadily and safely at a controlled rate. These logs are mostly stable at common adventuring temperatures, and are often sold as 10 1-ounce logs packed into a small glass jar with the remaining space filled with liquid valine oil to keep the logs fresh. A 1-ounce log of valine oil will burn with the strength of a roaring campfire for 8 hours. Valine oil can be dyed with a variety of alchemical substances to give the flames it gives off differing colors. |
