If a katana "should" be a reskinned longsword (DMG page 41), then this page takes that concept to an extreme.

Most SRD weapons fit neatly into only a few archetypes, especially if we ignore the somewhat arbitrary range differences. If repackaged in a better way I think this idea would function in a setting-agnostic variant of 5e's ruleset, but, I feel like it doesn't have much practical purpose on its own.
