Parrying Bracer[edit]

Light Armor

Cost Armor Class (AC) Strength Stealth Weight
10gp AC +1 8 2lb

A cylinder of worn leather wraps tight around your forearm, carrying upon it a jutting edge of keen steel that rises along the curve from wrist to elbow, tracing your limb with a line of silver. Slash your arm into the path of an oncoming blade, and against this honed edge a foe's blade will clatter aside; and even the heaviest of weapons may still be thwarted with a dexterous parry.

Use Whenever a melee weapon attack is made against you, take a reflex save equal to the attack roll. Succeed, and you avoid all damage. This takes no actions. Each successful parry however, renders the steel worn and notched. Roll a 1d4 after parrying; if the result is a 1 or 2, the weapon remains intact, otherwise it shatters. Take a fortitude save DC 15+ the opponent's attack roll, taking 1d12+6 damage. The bracer can no longer be used. If you attempted to parry a heavy blade, any roll above 1 will destroy the bracer, and while offering the same fortitude DC, will deal 1d20+ 12 damage.

This item can be acquired either by purchase from an armour merchant, or by crafting it from five leather strips and a piece of steel (often salvaged from broken swords). DC: 15
