Physical Description[edit]

A dragonborn dragon child is the child of a dragon father and a dragonborn mother or a child of two other dragon children. This is the main difference between a Dragonborn Dragon child and an Anthro dragon, as an anthro dragon has a dragon child father and dragon mother. Although, they are both called anthro dragons. A dragon child looks like a mix between his dragon father and humanoid mother. They have the same humanoid build and looks as their mother. They, however, also have a tail (+- 4 feet) and a pair of claws. Additionally, they have scales in the color of their dragon parent, which mix along with the scales of their mother, strengthening them. Some anthro dragons also have large, leathery, dragon wings. They also have dragon eyes, using their horizontal and vertical slits to have some of the best vision of all humanoids. Some may even grow a pair of small horns.

Some like eating the food a normal Dragon eats, but most prefer the food of their humanoid nature.

Dragon children of two other dragon children are a mix of the two types most of the time. They can be vulnerable to mood swings, as they may have two clashing alignments. The ones that do survive this heritage, however, are gorgeous. Only anthro dragons may survive more than two types of elemental power in them, turning them into prismatic (anthro) dragons.

Dragon Flaws[edit]

Every type of dragon has its own specific flaw(s), which you inherited.

Dragon Flaw
Black I love to make my enemies suffer before I kill them. Causing pain is a sheer joy.
Blue I’m very vain and will react with rage to any insinuation that I’m weak or inferior.
Brass I will serve anyone that is willing to pay well, even if it’s an evil being.
Bronze I will make sure everyone governs the law and nobody will stop me!
Copper My jokes are the best, so you should laugh with every joke I tell. If you don’t, you may be in for a bad time.
Gold I will do anything for the greater goods, but those are, most of the time, not the needs of the “lesser creatures”. You could probably say I’m arrogant.
Green I lie as easy as others speak and prefer to achieve my goals through guile and double-dealing.
Red I will never forgive even the smallest things. Even if you “only” insulted me, there will be consequences.
Silver Honor means everything and I will never break my word, even if this places me in opposition against creatures of my own alignment.
White I’m remarkably bestial and rely more on instinct then intellect.

History[edit]

Dragon children have existed for as long as there are humanoids. One of a dragon’s strongest instincts is to mate with another dragon. If they can’t find one, however, they may conceive a humanoid.

Anthro dragons are the only dragon child race that has the same amount of metallic as chromatic ones because dragonborn are immune to the disastrous effects of dragon sperm. When the incubation period starts, the womb of the mother will start accommodating for this egg (following the incubation rules of the Draconomicon). The total incubation time is 300 days (+- 10 months). The egg will only be laid in the last month of the incubation. This incubation takes up so much power, that almost all non-draconic mothers die when the egg gets laid.

Society[edit]

Most dragon children live in one of two societies:

A large number of dragon children live in villages around a chromatic dragon lair. These villages were first those of dragonborn or other humanoids, until a dragon needed to extinguish its great lust by conceiving all female humanoids in the town. These villages start to flourish once the dragon dies, as the dragon children share the loot of the dragon alongside each other. Some use it to study magic, while others start making delicate armor pieces. Other races also start coming to this concentration of craftsmanship. This often ends with this once small village turning into a metropolitan city, with the eldest of dragon children as ruler.

The rest of these dragon children grow up in “normal” villages, alongside “normal” humanoids. They are mostly frowned upon but can get paid well to send messages between faraway places, as they fly faster and are a safer bet than birds.

Race Traits[edit]

Anthro dragons resemble dragons even closer than normal dragonborn.
Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
Age. Anthro dragons grow twice as slow as normal dragonborn. They walk a day after hatching, attain the size and development of a 10-year-old human child by the age of 6, and reach adulthood by 30. They live to be around 160.
Alignment. Dragonborn tend to extremes, making a conscious choice for one side or the other in the cosmic war between good and evil. Most dragonborn are good, but those who side with evil can be terrible villains.
Size. Anth dragons are taller than other dragonborn, standing well over 7 feet tall and averaging almost 250 pounds. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Breath Weapon. You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. Your draconic ancestry determines the size, shape, and damage type of the exhalation. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. After you use your breath weapon, you can't use it again until you complete a short or long rest.
Darkvision. Having the eyes of your dragon father, you don't get hampered by darkness. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray. You have blindsight within 10 ft.
Dragon. The concentration of draconic blood within you strengthens your scales. Your creature type is considered to be both dragon and humanoid. While you are unarmored, your Armor Class equals 12 + your Strength modifier. If you have another trait with the same effect, you may count both stats together. In addition, you can take any dragonborn racial feat, as seen in Xanathar's Guide to Everything Dragon Wings, Fear or Hide.
Dragon weapons. Your sharp claws are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. The damage die for your unarmed strike increases to a d4, and it can deal slashing damage instead of bludgeoning damage. They also have the light property.Due to the size of your claws, you have disadvantage on any attacks with a weapon that has the light property, other than your unarmed strikes. If you have the Dragon Hide feat, your claws have a d6 as damage die. Additionally, your tail deals 1d6 bludgeoning damage with a reach of 5ft. When you hit a creature no more than one size larger than you with your tail, it must succeed on a Strength saving throw or is knocked prone. The DC for this saving throw = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Strength modifier.
Draconic Ancestry. You have draconic ancestry. Choose one type of dragon from the Draconic Ancestry table. Your breath weapon and damage resistance are determined by the dragon type, as shown in the table.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic. Draconic is thought to be one of the oldest languages and is often used in the study of magic. The language sounds harsh to most other creatures and includes numerous hard consonants and sibilants.

When creating an anthro dragon, you can use the following table of traits, ideals, bonds and flaws to help flesh out your character. Use this table in addition to or in place of your background's characteristics.

d8 Personality Trait
1 I didn’t grow up wearing clothes, and I still don’t like the feel of them on my body.
2 I am more comfortable around dragons than humanoids.

4 I will sell anything to get a stash full of gold, gems and magical items.
5 I would rather live in a liar than in a city.

d6 Ideal
1 Family. I will try anything to protect my parent. (Neutral)
2 Freedom. I never fit into society and I have found the only way to be content is to express myself without regard for rules. (Chaotic)
3 Draconic. I feel more like a dragon than a humanoid. I will do everything to come as close as possible to this desire. (Chaotic)
4 Harmony. I try my best to keep a healthy balance between my draconic origin and the humanoid world. (Good)
5 Dominance. I will enslave my race and rule over them, because I am genetically better than them. (Evil)

5 I feel a deep bond with every other dragon child.
6 I respect anyone that respects me, not because they’re scared, but because of who I am.
