Urumi, Variant (5e Equipment)
UrumiMartial Melee Weapons
A weapon as deadly as it is difficult to master, the urumi is a flexible, ribbon-like sword forged from thin, razor-sharp steel. Originating from the Indian subcontinent, this exotic weapon blurs the line between sword and whip, coiling and snapping with lethal precision. Wielding an urumi requires both agility and finesse, as its unpredictable motion can be as dangerous to its wielder as to their enemies. When in motion, the urumi becomes a whirlwind of flashing steel, capable of striking multiple foes in rapid succession. Warriors trained in its use can weave intricate patterns in combat, keeping opponents at bay while delivering unpredictable, slashing strikes. However, a single misstep can turn the weapon against its master, making it a tool of both great skill and great risk. Favored by elite martial artists and those who value speed over brute force, the urumi is as much a display of artistry as it is a weapon of war. Special. This weapon has the following special properties: - Whirling Strikes. The wielder can do a spinning attack which hits enemies within a 10 ft radius with a damage of 2d4, but to do that you have to succeeded a DC 12 Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. - Jump Attack. If the wielder is 5 or more feet in highground they can do a jump attack at anyone 15 ft or closer. To do that, the wielder must succeed a DC 10 + 2 for every 5 ft in height Dexterity (Acrobatics) check, the damage will be 2d4+2 for every 5 feet in height. - Unstable. If you roll a natural 1 on any attack roll or Dexterity (Acrobatics) using one of this waepon's features, you must succeed on a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or hit yourself with the attack. - Exotic Mastery. Due to its complexity, proficiency with the urumi requires specialized training. Characters must have proficiency in whips or scimitars and receive at least one week of dedicated training with the weapon. Back to Main Page → 5e Homebrew → Equipment → Weapons |
