Twilight Riders[edit]

Araleth Letheranil leads the charge against the followers of Lolth and Shar. Those who fight foes cloaked in darkness need special training to be victorious. The Twilight Riders are the Prince of Stars elite warriors.

Becoming a Twilight Rider[edit]

Twilight Riders are generally drawn from Araleth Letheranil's clerics. Though Favored Souls are also common. It isn't uncommon to have ranks in fighter also. Class Features[edit]

All of the following are class features of the Twilight Rider.

Blindsense (EX) A Twilight Rider gains blindsense out to 10 feet.

Starlight Mount The Twilight Rider Gains a special mount. This is identical to the Paladin Class feature, except the Twilight Rider's effective Paladin level is equal to their caster level when determining their mounts special ability. This stacks with any other class that grants a special mount, but the Twilight Riders effective Paladin level is never higher than their actual level.

Star Domain The Twilight Rider gains the Star Domain. Granted Power: The Twilight Rider can take a swift action to grant themselves the ability to see normally in any conditions of illumination (shadowy illumination, darkness, and magical shadow or darkness). The range of this vision is 30 feet and the effect lasts for 1 minute. You can use this ability once per day, and can use a turn undead attempt for an additional use. As a secondary benefit, you gain a +1 competence bonus to your caster level when casting light spells. Granted Spells: 1, Lance of Starlight. 2, Starry Strike. 3, Stars of Arvandor. 4, And the Stars Shall Guide. 5, Celestial Brilliance. 6, Bolt of Glory. 7, Starmantle. 8, Sunburst. 9, Meteor Swarm

Uncanny Dodge (EX) Twilight Riders know that an attack could come from at any time from any direction. So they learn to always be ready. They recieve the uncanny dodge ability as per the rogue. If they already have uncanny dodge, they get improved uncanny dodge instead.

Spellcasting At 2nd level and every level after, the Twilight Rider gains new spells per day and an increase in caster level (and spells known, if applicable) as if they had also gained a level in a divine spellcasting class to which they belonged before adding the prestige class level. They do not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. If they had more than one divine spellcasting class before becoming a Twilight Rider, they must decide to which class to add each level for the purpose of determining spells per day, caster level, and spells known. The Twilight Rider also adds the Paladin Spell list to their spell list.

Canny Defense (EX) When wielding a longsword one hand, The Twilight Rider gains a dodge bonus to Armor Class equal to their class level, up to a maximum of their Intelligence bonus. If the Twilight Rider wears medium or heavy armor, they loses all benefits of Canny Defense.

Insightful Strike (EX) A Twilight Rider becomes able to place their attacks with a Longsword where they deal greater damage. They apply their Intelligence bonus (if any) as a bonus on damage rolls (in addition to any Strength bonus they may have) the Longsword, as well as any other weapon that can be used with Weapon Finesse, such as a rapier, whip, or spiked chain. Targets immune to sneak attacks or critical hits are immune to their insightful strike. A Twilight Rider cannot use this ability when wearing medium or heavy armor or when carrying a medium or heavy load.

Ex-Twilight Riders[edit]

A Twilight Rider Who ceases to be good can no longer advance in this class.

Campaign Information[edit]

Araleth Letheranil the Prince of Stars' Favorite Weapon is the Longsword. His Domains are: Elf, Good, Glory, Knowledge, Protection, Star, and War

New Spells exclusive to the star domain.

Lance of Starlight

This spell functions as a divine version of magic missile, except creatures of shadow or darkness (shadows, slow shadows, shades, shadow dragons, etc.), plus creatures summoned from the Shadowfell, suffer 1d6 points of damage instead of 1d4.

Starry Strike

This spell functions as the spell magic weapon except the bladed weapon also emits motes of starlight. If used against creatures of darkness and shadow, the weapon deals 1 point of extra damage per caster level, to a maximum of +10. Further, undead from the plane of shadows struck by a weapon enchanted with this spell are treated as if a turning attempt has been made by a cleric of equal level to the caster. Lastly, the caster can sweep the enchanted weapon through a field of magical darkness in order to destroy it, with the same probability of success as a dispel magic attempt at twice the caster's level.

And the Stars Shall Guide

By means of this spell, the caster calls upon the stars to act as a guide to a specific location. A single star in the night sky will glow brightly for the caster, and up to one additional companion per two casting levels; this star will indicate a straight-line path to the location desired. The location need not be familiar to the caster, but it must be a place, rather than an object or creature within a place. For example, this spell could lead the caster to the nearest inn or the stone bridge along the King's Highway where it crosses the Blue River, but not the remains of the hero Callis or the nearest green dragon lair. The star will guide the caster and his companions regardless of terrain; it does not take into account hazards such as swamps, mountains, or deserts and will not lead the caster around them. At least one star must be in the sky for this spell to function; it will brighten a hidden star at dusk or dawn sufficiently for the caster to follow it, but it cannot make any stars visible during daylight. This spell always functions in the void of wildspace, but does not function underground. This spell functions on any planes other than the Prime Material Plane, so long as there is a night sky and stars; it cannot lead across planar boundaries or lead the caster to a planar portal.
