The troll makes one bite attack and two claw attacks. If it has a target grappled in its jaws, the troll can trade the bite attack for an additional claw attack against that target. Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (1d8 + 5) piercing damage. If the target is a Large or smaller creature, it must succeed a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be grappled. Until the grapple ends, the troll cannot use its bite against another target. Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (1d10 + 5) slashing damage. If the target is a grappled creature, it suffers 9 (2d8) damage for 1 minute due to internal bleeding. This does not stack if the target is hit with multiple claw attacks. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature and dies from a claw attack, the body is impaled on the claws.

While most Kaimeran giants are bulk feeders of local flora, there is one that is far more predatory: the trolls. Trolls of both kinds, greater and lesser, dwell in forests and wetlands, feeding on anything they come across. Similar to ogres, greater trolls of Ni'Khar and Northern Arvel are heavily derived in their air sacks and possess extreme pneumaticity, but the lesser trolls of Pakardia, Khalin Islands, and temperate Arvel are less derived in that regard and smaller. The primary reason trolls are predatory due to the inclusion of megaraptoran genetics, which gives them savage claws with which to impale their prey. Trolls are extremely reclusive and hard to keep track of, despite hunting people as their preferred tactic is to sneak into a village, impaling a few victims, and disappearing in the night. Even their footprints are nondescript, similar enough that they are easily mistaken for proboscideans[1] or even young sauropods. Some theorize that, like the harpies, trolls reproduce clonally which would explain how such a small population could persist, but this has not been verified by the Assembly or Great Library and it could easily be that there are more trolls than are regularly documented. Variant: Greater TrollA greater troll is a Huge creature and has a Strength of 22 (+ 6), 84 (8d12+32) hit points, a CR of 8 (3,900 XP) and the following traits:
Other than these modifications, it shares the same stats as a lesser troll seen above. |
