Triple Repeating Crossbow

Martial Ranged Weapons
Weapon Cost Damage Weight Properties
Triple Repeating Crossbow 500 gp 1d4 Piercing 15 lb. (ammunition, heavy, (range 40/160), loading, two-handed, special)

Special. When you take the attack action using this crossbow, it fires three bolts in rapid succession of one another. Make a ranged weapon attack for each bolt, all of which can only be made against the same target. The loading property of this weapon accounts for the time it takes to load and fire all three pieces of ammunition. Additionally, each attack expends three pieces of ammunition instead of one.

Expensive. A character can never gain this weapon as starting equipment from their class.

This unique crossbow prototype was made by Aldish the Inquisitive to increase the rate of fire of a single combatant. His hopes with such a weapon were to decrease the need for multiple trained sharpshooters to defend a target. However, in the lands of Barovia in which Aldish first made this crossbow, it served the purpose of quickly dispatching any threat that arose through an overwhelming volume of bolts.
