Trickster's Salt (5e Equipment)

Cost: 15 gp

A small sack of glittering purplish powder. It holds 2d4 pinches of trickster's salt. It can be used on a Medium or smaller object to give it an illusionary appearance. By sprinkling it onto an object, you may either transform it to look more valuable or less valuable (user's choice). You may not, however, control the way it transforms. Sprinkling it on a loaf of bread can make it appear moldy, or make it look like chocolate cake! Sprinkling it on a lesser healing potion can make it look like a mason jar full of pond scum, or appear like a greater healing potion! These effects are purely cosmetic, and are only useful in hiding your loot from would-be thieves, or tricking oblivious buyers into buying a rock for 50 gold pieces. A creature must succeed on a DC 11 Intelligence (Investigation) check to see through the illusion. Any creature that is aware the trickster's salt is in effect succeeds immediately. The trickster's salt's effects wear off if someone who knows its true form dispels it while holding it as an action.
