Trap Bowl (5e Trap)

Trap bowl[edit]

This trap is mechanical in nature.

The trap bowl is a bowl with some coins covered completely by a liquid that looks like water. However, the liquid is actually a sort of acid, and when a player tries to pick up the coins, they must make a DC 10 Dexterity check. The creature takes 1d10 acid damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. The acid only affects skin and muscle, so creatures like inorganic constructs will take no damage when attempting to get the coins. Depending on the aggressiveness of the acid as well as the shape of the bowl (for example a design developed with the exact purpose of getting hands stuck in it), the DC and damage can be set higher.
