Transformative Magic[edit]
Sorcerer Subclass
Sorcerers from the transformative magic origin are individual touched by the elemental chaos, by the very essence of the energy, that is ever changing and ever flowing, constantly mutating its form. These sorcerers are created when humanoids are born in zones of powerful presence of elemental chaos. The spells of a transformative sorcerer reflect this origin, as they surrender themselves to the primordial chaos, purposefully releasing wild discharges of chaotic magic.
- Transformative Casting
Starting at 1st level, when you cast a spell that causes acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, thunder or psychic, or that give resistance to one of those damage types, you can choose to roll 1d8, randomly changing its damage type. In addition, you learn the chaos bolt spell, which doesn't count against your number of sorcerer spells known.
Number Rolled | Damage Type |
---|---|
1 | Acid |
2 | Cold |
3 | Fire |
4 | Force |
5 | Lightning |
6 | Poison |
7 | Psychic |
8 | Thunder |
When you reach 2nd level in this class, you can cast chaos bolt by spending a number of sorcery points equal to the level you want to cast the spell, up to a level equal to you highest level spell slot (maximum of 5 sorcery points). If you cast it spending a sorcery point, roll on the transformative casting table. If you roll on the table the same damage type rolled in either of the d8s for the spell, you cause the Chaos Bolt to leap.
- Transformative Energy
Starting at 6th level, you feel yourself begin to be enhanced in times of need. Whenever you make an Ability Check or Saving Throw that you are not proficient with, you can roll a 1d4 and add it to your roll.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain your uses of it after completing a long rest.
- Controlled Transformative Casting
At 14th level, whenever you roll on the Transformative Casting table or on the Chaos Bolt damage type table, you can roll the die twice and choose which of the two damage types rolled. If you roll the same number on both dice, you can ignore the number and choose any effect on the table.
- Transformative reflector
When you reach 18th level when you take damage from an attack, you can use your reaction to roll on the Transformative Casting table, changing the damage type to the type rolled. If you roll the same number on both dice, the damage you would take is reduced to 0 and the attacker takes the same amount of damage, from the type rolled on the table instead.
