The Mother of Puppets (5e Subclass)
The Mother of Puppets[edit]
Warlock Subclass
You have made a pact with an extra-planar entity formed of and fueled by the fears of mortals; your patron is associated with the fear of being manipulated, exploited, and of your will not being your own (also, sometimes, spiders). This entity is usually unable or unwilling to influence the material plane beyond granting supernatural abilities to those it believes will provide even more fear that it may feed on. If it has chosen you, it either believes you will make the fear of being controlled widespread, or that you yourself will develop into a source of this fear.
Expanded Spell List[edit]
The Mother of Puppets lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.
Spell Level | Spells |
---|---|
1st | command, snare |
2nd | gift of gab, web |
3rd | bestow curse, sending |
4th | compulsion, dominate beast |
5th | dominate person, modify memory |
Arachnophobia[edit]
Started at 1st level, you have advantage on Saving Throws against being frightened. Additionally, you gain a climbing speed of 20 feet.
Subtle Strings[edit]
Starting at 6th level, the range of enchantment spells are doubled.
Weaver[edit]
Starting at 10th level, you learn the web spell if you do not already have it, it counts as a warlock spell for you, but it doesn’t count against the number of warlock spells you know. you can cast Web a number of times per long rest equal to your proficiency bonus, you are immune to the effects when you cast the spell Additionally, your climb speed becomes equal to your walking speed and now when moving through difficult terrain, you lose only 10 feet of movement or 5 if your base movement speed is 25 or lower
Puppetmaster[edit]
Starting at 14th level, you can cast mass suggestion without expending a spell slot once per long rest. Additionally, any creatures you target with enchantment spells have disadvantage on saving throws to avoid these effects.
Pact Boons[edit]
Each Pact Boon option produces a special creature or an object that reflects your patron's nature.
Pact of the Chain. The familiar granted by your patron seems to know what you are thinking and act almost before you command it. It almost certainly has the default form of a spider.
Pact of the Blade. Your pact weapon could be covered in spiderwebs, or could be made of twitching black chitin.
Pact of the Tome. Your Book of Shadows might be bound with silk, or written using vague and indirect language whose gaps you find surprisingly easy to fill.
