The Ceaseless Watcher (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
The Ceaseless Watcher[edit]
Warlock Subclass
You have made a pact with an extraplanar entity formed of and fueled by the fears of mortals; your patron is associated with the fear of being seen, known, or followed without consent or awareness. This entity is usually unable or unwilling to influence the material plane beyond granting supernatural abilities to those it believes will provide even more fear that it may feed on. If it has chosen you, it either believes you will make the fear of being watched widespread, or that you yourself will develop into a source of this fear.
Expanded Spell List[edit]
The Ceaseless Watcher lets you choose from an expanded list of spells when you learn a warlock spell. The following spells are added to the warlock spell list for you.
Spell Level | Spells |
---|---|
1st | identify, sudden awakening |
2nd | detect thoughts, zone of truth |
3rd | nondetection, clairvoyance |
4th | locate creature, arcane eye |
5th | geas, commune |
Watcher's Insight[edit]
Starting at 1st level, you gain a +1 bonus to Intelligence checks. This bonus increases to +2 at 10th level, and +4 at 14th.
Imperceptible Probing[edit]
Starting at 6th level, you have become adept at reading the minds of other creatures. When you cast detect thoughts, the target creature has disadvantage on its Wisdom saving throw and is not aware of your probing if it fails this save. Additionally, while the spell is active, you gain advantage on any ability check to interact socially with the target.
It Knows You[edit]
Starting at 10th level, it becomes incredibly difficult to knowingly lie to you or avoid answering a direct question you ask. A creature must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw to be able to do so, taking 2d10 psychic damage if successful. You are not aware of the results of this roll.
Subtle Geas[edit]
Starting at 14th level, you may cast geas at 9th level by expending a 5th level spell slot; unless you choose otherwise, the target is unaware they are under its effects until they disobey the command. The spell ends if the target creature has its eyes removed, in addition to the standard methods of ending it. You cannot use this feature again for 1 week after using it.
Pact Boons[edit]
Each Pact Boon option produces a special creature or an object that reflects your patron's nature.
Pact of the Chain. Your familiar is curious and intelligent, yet spends hours near motionless, staring at the world around it. It's default form is likely that of an owl or cat.
Pact of the Blade. Servants of the Ceaseless Watcher tend to prefer concealable weapons, and your pact weapon may be difficult to focus on or unusually light.
Pact of the Tome. Your Book of Shadows could be an ancient, ragged codex, filled with the deranged scrawling of those driven mad by knowledge.
