The Blight (5e Disease)
From D&D Wiki
The Blight[edit]
Origin[edit]
The Blight is a festering disease born from the death of a god. As they died and their body deteriorated, their blood became rotten and boiling, becoming black in color and spreading not like a blessing, but as a horrid disease.
Contracting The Blight[edit]
The Blight is a fungal-like Disease spread through the touch of black veins. One may contract it by sharing bodily fluids with an infected, become stabbed with an object covered in the disease, or even from direct touch of one in the final stages of infection. Once you become touched by the disease, the player has to make a DC 16 constitution saving throw. On a failure, their body gets infected with the disease.
Effects[edit]
For the first month of infection, there is no clear symtoms except for the original infected area appearing darker than usual. After this month, ones eyes may become completely white as the black veins are shown to have spread through their entire body. This leads to a permanent level of exhaustion that cannot be cured until the disease is. One will continue to gain 1 point of exhaustion every 2 weeks until they are cured. Once one reaches the 6th level of exhaustion, they die. While one is infected with the blight however, making direct skin contact with another creature after the first month will infect that creature with the disease as well if they fail the DC 16 saving throw, or, if prolonged contact is made, such as anything more than a simple touch, the touched creature will take 3d6 Blight damage, as well as having to make the saving throw.
Treatment[edit]
Under the first, dormand month of the disease, it can be cured, if discovered, with a simple "lesser restoration" spell. After the first month passes though, either a greater restoration spell is needed to cure the affliction, or perhaps any other items your DM decides might be viable, such as a special potion that cures all abnormal effects.
