SirSprinkles, I would love it if you could help me sort this out. I don't know what I did wrong and I can't fix it. -MakerCaker

Not SirSprinkles, but my input would be to point out that spells scale by 1 damage die per extra spell slot expended, not by total damage.
In addition, a 1st level spell would likely deal 2d6 at 1st level, rather than 3d6. Just my input. --UlynSilverstone (talk) 12:02, 4 October 2017 (MDT)
Spells usually scale by 1 damage die, but that doesn't necessarily have to be the case. Additionally, I would probably judge this spell to be underpowered for a single-target spell: guiding bolt deals 4d6 damage (14 avg), and inflict wounds deals 3d10 damage (16.5 avg). — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 12:26, 4 October 2017 (MDT)
Ah yes, I see your point. I agree with the underpowered at 1st level, but increasing the damage by as much as it currently is, it would step on Power Word Kill casting at 9th level, rolling 108 damage on average if my quick head math isn't mistaken. --UlynSilverstone (talk) 12:34, 4 October 2017 (MDT)
I buffed the first-level damage to 4d6, and reduced the scaling to 2d6 per additional spell level. If this spell were cast at 9th level, it would inflict an average of 70 damage if my math is correct. — Geodude671 (talk | contribs | email)‎ . . 13:04, 4 October 2017 (MDT)
That appears much more reasonable, and was going to be my suggestion for a middle ground. I only actually brought this up as a player is looking to use it in an online campaign starting shortly. --UlynSilverstone (talk) 13:14, 4 October 2017 (MDT)
