Talk:Way of the Crescent Moon (5e Subclass)
From D&D Wiki
Why do we need a separate ninja class when you could easily use a rogue or shadow monk with reflavored weapons? Geodude671 (talk) 23:02, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
Feedback[edit]
Many errors, mostly to do with the way things are worded.
- Proficient with a greatsword but not unarmed strike. Doesn't seem very ninjery.
- 6th, 14th, 18th level have no features, while 5th, 13th and 17th level have both a feature and a new spell slot level.
- Trap master. "You cannot fail to notice..." should be removed, as clearly it is possible to fail to notice.
- Shuriken. How is it "used"? Shouldn't you make a ranged weapon attack? Or is it a Dexterity save because you're throwing multiple shuriken like a burst? "this move has a range of 60ft" -> this isn't a "move". I'm not sure why this stuns a target.
- Caltrops. "10ft cubes worth of range" doesn't mean anything.
- Smoke grenade. "enemies and allys [sic] alike become unseen." Shouldn't this be using the normal D&D rules for obscurement?
- Lockpick. This should be mechanically clear, like thieves' tools.
- Stink bomb has no range, no action, no targeting information. Furthermore many creatures are not going to care about this (skeletons, etc). It should require a Constitution saving throw vs. poison.
- There are an awful lot of these ninja tricks - surely the player wouldn't have access to all of them. Wouldn't you start with a few and learn more as you gain levels? I'll skip the rest, but they all have problems.
- Ninjitsu Notebook: Armour is not explained. What is this second attack? How many times can you use it and how is it used? It it supposed to be an Extra Attack?
- Transformation: suddenly mentions "animals" and "Transformation", which thus far haven't been explained.
- There's more. Another time perhaps. Marasmusine (talk) 08:39, 30 April 2019 (MDT)
